Next saturday?

I am totally available next weekend.

Tsmuktengan

Well... let's say next Saturday then. I believe this should leave time for all of you to organize yourselves.

I will send you a message tomorrow If I am available this saturday, or not. It depends. Where I am going to this weekend, depends on the weather, so let's see tomorrow.

Interesting.

I have been keeping tabs on the RLNT, I was here when it started years ago.
I consider myself still apart of RLNT but as a benefactor.

Curious... is the RLNT still looking to start somewhere? When I last visited, me and several others discussed Kauai. One of the Hawaiian Islands, the "Garden Island."
It was where James Cameron took his Avatar staff, so they could get a feel for the jungle to help with production of the movie.
If this could potentially be a discussed idea, I'd be interested in participating.

Survival is something to be reckoned with. That's why I enjoy it.
Who all is still in RLNT? How many members do we have left?

Well, we are not many anymore. We are a very few people. We are still discussing to go somewhere, we are also discussing the economy of this. I have also considered Hawaii as a good place.

The point is to learn in a way or another how to train for survival. We've got to talk about all this anyway to get to know each other and know each other's point of view.

Tsanten Eywa 'eveng

Since we have decided for saturday, we now must decide the time on saturday. When on saturday will it be?
We need it to be set perfectly, for the people in different time zones. I am in CET(UTC+1)

Tsmuktengan

I'd say during the evening on UTC time, let's say 10PM for UTC+1, if this is all right.

Tsmuktengan

I am online and waiting. If you can't come or forgot, never mind, another teamspeak meeting can be planned... and I shall try to bring other people myself if I find some time.

So, there was a conference on TeamSpeak yesterday where only 2 showed up, me and Tsmuktengan. That was a little bad, but we got out something.
He mentioned me about some survival trainings, where we could train, to learn for how to live out in the wilderness.
This is what I found:

Raw Røros
Raw Røros is a survival training camp located in Norway in the town Røros.

Wilderness Awareness
Wilderness Awareness is a survival training school, located at the west coast of U.S. This is not only for kids, but for youths and adults.

Wilderness Awareness School is a national not-for-profit environmental education organization established in 1983 and based in Duvall, Washington. We are dedicated to caring for the earth and our children by fostering understanding and appreciation of nature, community and self.
Our dynamic wilderness education courses combine ancient and modern ecological wisdom, and empower people of all ages to become stewards, mentors and leaders. Over the past two decades, Wilderness Awareness School has grown from a small group of visionary individuals to a leading national organization impacting the course of nature education, and inspiring many schools and individuals across the country and the world to share our teachings and curriculum.

Natural Culture Network
Natural Culture Network is a survival training school located in the UK.
Nature Culture Network (NCN) is a network of nature connectors, who hold an annual week-long 'Art of Mentoring' training course to revitalize ourselves and expose more people to this timeless approach to connecting people to nature, self and community.  Although we are focussed on the British Isles, we work closely with our friends in Ireland, mainland Europe and North America.
Nature Culture Network as an organisation provides connective tissue between nature-based practitioners, offers trainings and forums for sharing our learnings.  We are standing on the shoulders of many teachers before us and are especially thankful to founding visionaries Jon Young and Mark Morey for supporting us to begin to operate more as a movement, a ground swelling of inter-connections.   Our speciality,  if you like, is creating a village model in which everyone's unique contribution has its place The set of principles we are building on are called the 8 shields, and these have now been incorporated to greater and lesser degrees by many hundreds of organisations worldwide.

If we didn't got so much out of this voice conference 2nd Feb 2013, maybe we can set up a new one, and see if more people will join it. So all of us, can be at it? It sounds like a really good proposal

Tsmuktengan

Yes, did not have the time to do this yet. I

Is there any news that we can maybe start a new voice conference? Maybe next weekend? on saturday? Would that work well for anyone? Or about the next saturday after that?

Na'vin Nos'feratxu

An outline of topics that need discussion is a good starting place.
Perhaps the conference leader should put a topics list together, so that everyone can be on the same page at the same time.

Personally, I would like to know just exactly how old everyone is, How many of you there are, Genders, actual skills (if any) etc.
Whether this will succeed or not will be based on actual adults who have specific and crucial skills that will be needed in order to make this work.

I hate to say it, but the RLNT is kinda dead in the water, so to speak.
We have a few people left, but everyone is VERY far apart. Finding a SAFE location is almost impossible given the circumstances of our current world and it space.
As much as the idea is overall good, and the concept of it is needed, the likeliness of this actually happening is null.

We literally need a new world, apart from this one to make this actually work.
There is no land anywhere that isn't already inhabited. The places that aren't inhabited cannot sustain life. There's simply no place to go...
Unless someone has a LOT of money, and can afford to own an actual island of piece of land that can sustain a village, we simply can't do anything.

Sorry, off on a tangent... Who else is left? How old is everyone? and what can you do as a beneficiary?
I am 26 years old, I have several skills in survival in certain areas, I am an Adult Male with a clean genetic background, no traces of genetic disease such as cancer or heart problems.
I am 6'4" tall, 200lbs total body weight. In excellent fitness shape, no problems with muscles, bones or joints.

For those of you who honestly wish to partake in this, you must be completely honest about yourself,
Your health, education, skills, body type and genetic background is very important. Strictly because if you have health issues, this could be a potential problem out in the field.
Also, mental health is a HUGE concern. How you do under stress if very important... Survival is nothing but stress, constant stress on the body, the mind and everyone around you.

Here are a few key things and criteria that everyone should meet in order to be ready for something like this..
1. Be able to lift, carry and move while carrying something that is at the same level of your body weight. So if you weigh 100lbs, you should be able to carry something that is equal to you weight. for a total of 200lbs... So in my instance, I can carry 200lbs and slightly more, making my total carry weight at 400+lbs.

2. Have no mental disease or problems that can/will affect the people around you and yourself. Such as chronic depression, suicidal thoughts, the inability to feel mercy etc. it's very important that everyone have healthy minds and bodies if any of you wish to survive happily. Leadership is needed from everyone, but also you must be able to see and understand reason. There should NEVER be a dominance issue...EVER.

3. It doesn't matter what skills you do, or don't have. All that matters is that everyone be honest in their own knowledge. If you don't know anything about how survival works, then just say so. It's a lot easier to say that you don't know, then to make something up and potentially risk someones safety. This pertains to hunting, foods, trapping, or any skills that are vital to the group.
Remember! "It is hard to fill a cup, that is already full." We all can learn from one another, and develop strong points and reliability in each other.

4. Your body must not be hyper reactive to changes in temperature, foods/allergies, or pain/trauma. If you cannot handle the sight of blood, death, or injury then there will be problems.
Everyone has different tolerances, but some people have no tolerances. This isn't a HUGE deal, but if you cant handle a majority of these, then you should reconsider RLNT.

I am going to stop here for now, the list can go on, but these are just a few key elements that everyone should consider. Analyze yourself and see if you fit for such an adventure.
If you can honestly say you "aren't" ready based on these key features, thats OK!
It's not impossible to develop these things, your heart has to be in it. Anyone can meet these requirements, maintain an open mind and heart.

Think of it like this..
If humans had a world wide problem, and many of them perished, if you remained alive you would go back to your roots and instinct.
You will adapt, learn and survive what the world throws at you. If nearly all human life was lost and only a few of us survived, would you be one of them?
We all have the will to live, we all have the urge to grow and survive. Put your mind and your heart there.

You are 100 % right Na'vin Nosferatu. I, by the way apologize for not having given any continuation nor news for weeks, but as always, I have to give priority to my studies. I am ending my year soon though.

Finding the location is an incredibly hard thing, I do agree, and I did thought that there would be the necessity to think by continent first : Europeans should organize themselves on their side at first, same for americans, before moving anywhere forward, and so even if there are very few people.

To me, the fact that there are very few people left is not an issue, it can even be a good thing helping the organization and making it less complicated (seeing the bright side).

I am going to answer your points.

0. I am 21 years old, I have no skills in survival in any area. I am an Adult Male with a clean genetic background, no traces of genetic disease such as cancer or heart problems. The only trace of genetic disease is generalized vitiligo, that is currently hardly noticeable, affecting less than 5% of my body.

1. I can carry, pull and push many heavy weight objects and get on with it, even with pain. I cannot however carry my own weight. I look forward to strengthen my body sensibly, strengthening myself mentally by the same time. I am not fit nor fat. I am in the wrong side of the medium line (due to my physically low activity studies), but since I do not like my body, I would not be against me making sensible efforts. I would dream to be just a bit fit.

2. Have no mental disease or problems that can/will affect the people around you and yourself. I did have issues in the past, due to a problematic social environment that has been solved through years. I place a lot of importance on sharing and trying to understand one's opinion and why he thinks in such way (attachment to the concept of 'seeing' not just by the eyes). I have strong notions of life in community, whether it is in a megalopolis, in a village, or to the scale of a small group of individuals.

3. I have almost no knowledge about survival, except that there is the necessity to take care of many issues linked with hygiene, resources and medication. In other words, my cup is empty. I strictly have no experience at all. This is why I am willing and offered to learn progressively.

4. No hyper-reactions, no allergies nor trauma.  No issue with the sight of blood, death, or injury. The only reaction I had so far was from the very typical and strong smell of a boiling dead animal (the typical smell that is designed to make any natural being to flee, unless you really are used to), for example a big bird's head boiled by a friend of mine to extract it's skull, where I couldn't stand it without feeling really ill. I just had to go get some fresh air. Again, no trauma.

Even though humans have the ability to adapt, the "ignorance" problem is a huge issue. For my case, as you see, I need to learn and evolve physically.

I think you made a fundamental point that was kept forgotten all that time. That's perhaps why it is also a good idea for us to take our time for RLNT to get done. A second life takes time and energy to be prepared from a first busy life.
