Vocab / Phrases / Re: Your worst Na'vi word

It's colloquial form, ronsrewngop, isn't all too bad tho.
but in that case the mind dances hrh

HRH! ;D

I don’t know how I feel about this …

It is one thing to say you don’t like a word for its sound combination because you have difficulty with it and another to say you don’t like a word because it’s ‘unlike’ Na’vi. Pretty presumptuous if you ask me :-\

I don’t like the word ha’ngir, for whatever reason, but it won’t keep me from using it when I need it ;)

And I have to step up for kxì … some people seem to think that it is a short form of kaltxì. Nowhere is it said it would be! Same as hi isn’t a short form of hello. If you don’t like it, don’t use it.

Sorry, my 2¢ – had to vent a little.

No need to apologize here, it's completely understandable and relateable imho. I don't hate ronsrelngop per se, I still use it and have it as an example (even with audio) on my website, it's just.... I dunno, that word just gives me the chills, a lot like when you scratch a chalk board with your nails or something, hrh. It's just some kind of aversion I'd prefer not to have, but I cannot ignore the fact that it's there. For whatever weird reason  :-\

Tbh I never really got the hate towards kxì, it's hard to pronounce for me and whatnot, but it's not that bad, if we're perfectly honest :P It's still better than "'sup?". x)

I guess, ta'em is kind of random. Not all words that include "em" have necessarily to do with a possible "em" root word.

we used to deduce that 'em is "above" from "ta'em" before we knew it as "to cook". (This was in the same ASG era as when "kxener" used to be some kind of fruit or vegetable instead of "smoke" and kì'ong was known as some fruit or vegetable as well instead of "slow")

Uuuuh ;D

I love to read longer texts in Na’vi from K. Pawl. Thank you so much for sharing that with us!

I’m more and more convinced that ’eyng is intransitive :-\

Hmmm ta'em (from above) would mean that 'em or em is a root for "above" but the tìftang doesn't fit with the verbs.

In the name of the whole current (mainly beginners') Lerngruppe some of the members composed a message (because it was his birthday), including .mp3 of the text and I sent it to KP (my first mail to him, weeh!). Today he answered, giving us not only very kind words as usual, but also new words:

Quote
Ma eylan ayawne alu Eana Unil alu Krrsì sì 'eveng te atan alu Andi sì Tomke sì
 Thyra sì Malte sì Leo sì Sophie sì Teyvit sì Neyri alu Micha sì Tekre alu
 Merve sì Wllìm sì Plumps alu Stefan,

TL;DR (how dare you not read KP's messages hrh!):

leftxozä = celebratory

Kelnì = Cologne / Köln
Poston = Boston
Nìyu Yorkì = New York
