Thump*

A loud sound of body meeting floor resounds off the nearby rock walls. The young ikran moans in pain as he rights himself. His name was not able to be pronounced in human languages but we will call him Atan'eko. 'I had been having a good dream too,' he thought fondly as he tried to open his eyes against the bright sun. He looks up at his perch he had just unceremoniously fell from and guessed it was about a 35ft drop. Just enough to hurt like a vrrtep.

Stretching his wings and hearing some joints popping into place he gave a long screech like a yawn. Thirst was the first sense that reached him. 'A cool wash and a drink sounds very good to me,' he thought. With that he walked to the edge of his floating rock and spread his wings. Feeling the air around him was always a wonderful feeling in the morning. With a final long breath he took to the skies in search of a cool glade to get some water and maybe even some morning meal.

*Hearing a Thud in the distance*

Being very aware of my surroundings, even in sleep, I had awakened.
Popping my neck and knuckles, I still had my back propped up against a tree. Several hundred feet up, nearly at the top of the tree I repositioned my Dragon-Saber which was in between my legs and propped up against my left shoulder. The blade tip was stuck into the limb of which I was sleeping on, and its handle was beside my face.

Although I'm now an escapee of the sawtute, I was raised around them. I found out later I was actually stolen from my family to be raised as a warrior for the sawtute on their planet. I was trained in melee combat and firearms, I learned English and my native language Na'vi.
I was the best the sawtute had ever seen, and I favored using melee weapons more than firearms. I use a 2 handed sword that the sawtute like to call a Dragon-Saber.

Once I became conscious of the fact I was Na'vi, I was stolen from my family and I had to leave my own planet, I made the choice to escape.
I am now on the run and in the wild on my own. I managed to grab my Sabre when I escaped.
I was raised in the sawtute facility, and have never gotten to be outside much.
They trained me to be a killer, which was their undoing. I claimed the lives of 14 sawtute during my escape, if they were in my way they died. Although I am not cold at heart and I do know how to love things, I can be tskxe wew tspangä.

After the Thud in the distance woke me, and I repositioned my Sabre, I stretched and gave a loud *Sigh*
"Now what do I do?" I thought...
"Food... I need to get something to eat somehow."

Sulani spread her wings wide, flexing the claws at their tips and opening her air spiracles to embrace the cool morning air. Adjusting her small rear wings, she soared higher.  The sun felt good. The air smelled of angtsìk.  Not suitable for a morning meal.  She banked left and headed across the river, keeping high enough to see far into the distance.

A silhouette appeared, gliding low above the canopy of the ayutral.  A happy feeling suffused her as she recognized him.  It was one of her most recent brood, a young male and the brightest and strongest of the bunch.  She forgot her quest for breakfast and stealthily approached him from behind.  He was groggy with sleep, she could tell, and it was time to make a point about the dangers of being inattentive to the sky.

Approaching him quietly, she suddenly pulled in her wings to increase her speed and zoned in on him, spiraling under him as she whizzed by and bumping him in the chest with the steering vane under her chin, startling him.  She gave him her best ikran grin and a chuckling grunt as she flashed by and made a running landing along the bank of the river.

I looked at my mother and had to grin. She was always very playful.  ;D

I got the wind back under my wings fully and glided down as gently as I could to the banks of the river Sulani landed next to. I glanced at her and did my best rolling of the aynari.  ::) "Mother you are always picking on me when I am not expecting it," I say in grunts and croons that we ikran speak in. I take a sip of water and then a large gulp. The water quenching all notions of thrist from me. Then my gizzard grumbled with hunger. 'It's time for some hunting,' I think. 'Maybe a yerik...' I look to Sulani and ask, "How are the hunting grounds this morning mother?"

Sulani blew air through her intake valves, making a rasping sound.

"Only large tough prey, ma oeyä 'itan. Angstìk.  The calves are half grown and well muscled, not tender as they were a few months ago."
Her fore-eyes focus on the young ikran as her smaller eyes scan the riverbank.

Flights of tetrapterons played havoc among the fan lizards trying to drift across the river, scooping them in mid-flight and swallowing them whole.

"If we fly toward the awakening sun, I think we may catch sleepier prey.  Oengal tseykwayon oengaru!"

Txura Rolyu

I also look in the direction of the ayayo and breath in deeply ready to take off after them. Sulani takes to the sky first and glides above the trees and I follow suit. Keeping up wind of my prey I look for which unlucky yayo will be my breakfast. I spot it just as it misses what looked like an easy attack on one of the lizards. 'It must have poor eyesight,' I think. 'This will be an easy catch for me.'

I dip my wings over the tree tops and swoop in quickly at the flock of ayayo. Keeping a close eye on my target I take aim and open my jaw before I am upon it. As they begin to scatter I am already in the midst of them and I could feel two or three of them glancing off my body as I knock them from the sky. The somewhat blind one didnt even have a chance to know I was there before I had already caught it in my sharp teeth. I pull up and land in the branches of a large tree and enjoy my morning meal. The smell of warm flesh always seems to heighten the flavors of meat. I swallow each piece of the now dead carcass and clean my talons when I am finished. My gizzard was not bothering me any more and my talons were glistening in the sunlight. This was a good start to my day.  :)

I began to hop down the tree, limb by limb. making sure to be as silent as possible, in case there was something lurking on the forest floor.
I carried my Sabre in my right hand, it rested over my right shoulder. Although I was trained to be ambidextrous, I preferred my right hand for carrying and swinging the Sabre. If the need were to arise the I could use my full strength with the Sabre using both hands.

I saw some Ikrans fly over head then disappear, they were moving quite fast. Too fast for me to entertain the idea of hunting them down as food. I think I'll keep to ground dwelling creatures instead...
I finally reached the forest floor and stood still and motionless for several moments. I scanned and listened for any movement or sound.
The wind began to pick up, and I continued to wait...   The breeze blew in a smell that I could distinctly identify as animal, but what kind I did not know.

I exploded into a run in search for my prey, and morning breakfast. I never had the opportunity to run as fast as I knew I could when I was kept at the Sawtute facility. I used their machines to train my muscles, I reached the point to where their equipment wasn't strong enough for me to use, their tread machines for running weren't fast enough, their bench pressing machines could not support the weights I used.
I overheard the scientists talking about me once, saying I was far superior than any Avatar or Na'vi they have ever seen.

I had surprised an animal as I was running, I had seen it in Sawtute books and it was called a Yerik.... Edible...
Before the Yerik even knew what to do, I had thrusted both of my feet forward and landed on the Yerik.
Laying on its side kicking, I calmly punched the Yerik in the side of the neck severing and dislocating its spine...
All was Silent, "Forgive me..." I said to the Yerik. The Silence was a symphony I loved, Silence is the Symphony of Death.

I still carried my Sabre with my right hand, and picked up the Yerik with my left. I jumped up several limbs to get high in the trees once more. So as not to attract any unwanted company...
"Time to eat.." I thought while smiling.

Watching her young hatchling hunt his breakfast, Sulani hovered in anticipation.  She knew he would knock some of the tetrapteron silly and their disorientation would be their undoing.

His bold attack dispersed the flock and three of the winged animals careened off his sleek body, wings broken and twisted.  Jaws gaping, she plucked two from the sky before they could bounce off the soft riverbank below.  She skimmed up to a limb above her 'itan.  One animal still struggled weakly beneath her talons though it was pinned to the branch and couldn't escape.  The other animal was already dead and she savored its warm flesh, its blood trickling down her jaws, tracing a lacy red pattern down her neck.

Wait. She froze. The humid air brought her a scent she hadn't anticipated, causing her heart to beat faster.  Slightly anxious, she looked around.  The remains of the animal swung gently from her powerful jaws as she turned her heart and craned her neck.  Sulani remembered this scent, and the memories weren't good.  Confrontations with strange two-legged animals flashed through her consciousness and she gave a low hiss.  She couldn't see anything unusual, but she didn't doubt the taste of the morning air or the threat it brought to her senses.

As I am savoring the last bits of flavor left in my mouth I notice ma sa'nok is rather tense and keeps looking around. This makes me anxious. I begin to look around as well and extend my senses out away from me looking for any sign of what might be bothering Sulani. I notice a strange smell. It is faint and foreign to me. I was not fully grown to full maturity so I had not taken it upon myself to explore much farther than what was near my nest. I am most curious about the new smell and wonder what it might taste like. But something inside me tells me that this isnt a playful matter.

"Sulani," I ask, "what is that smell? It is not one that I have smelled before."

Having reached several hundred feet up the tree, I carved the Yerik into edible pieces and ate it all raw.
"My first kill, it tastes so much better knowing where it comes from." I thought to myself...

Everything stopped, my eyes dilated and I snapped up onto my feet. I stood in battle stance with my Sabre in hand... It was an unconscious reaction when I felt Danger. "The Humans?!" I took a whiff of the air, it was thick with adrenaline... The smell a creature emits when it feels threatened.
.... Something had taken notice of me. However I could see nothing close by, too many trees hindered my eye sight.

I had my fill of the Yerik, although I would have eaten more of it because there was no telling when I would get my next meal.
It was time for me to get moving, it is unwise to linger in a single location for too long. I began to move from tree to tree as fast as possible in the opposite direction of the scent of Danger.
"I thought I heard a hissing noise, that means it was close..."   I thought to myself.

After moving for a good 2 minutes, I stopped. I began to observe my surrounding and realized there were tons of Floating Mountains around in the sky. "Whoa... Where am I?" A smile crept onto my face as I gazed at the wondrous site.
My heart wasn't racing from the running I had done, but from the feeling this place gave me. I became so excited I almost lost my balance and fell off the limb.

I had never in my life, felt so happy and at home before. This is my true home, the place the sawtute worked to keep me from.
At that moment I vowed to never let the sawtute catch me or take me back to their facility. I would die before I would let that happen.

A vine dangled from one of the mountains above me, I looked downward and noticed I had stopped right on a cliffs edge.
"The sawtute will never find me up there!" I thought to myself.
I leaped off the cliff and latched onto the vine, I climbed with ease straight up. What felt like ages, I had finally reached the top.
There was a Giant cave in the side of the Mountain, a waterfall flowed over the Cave entrance. The cave looked vacant so I looked around for a bit and decided this would be my home for the time being.
No one would know it was there, it was invisible to the eye. The Waterfall covered it enough to hide it.

"I need to find some wood, and something soft to lay on."
I thought.
I began to wonder if I should search for materials now, or take a break and do it later.

Sulani made a low guttural noise of anxious displeasure. She gulped the rest of the tetrapteron quickly. Her senses were heightened and she kept her secondary eyes roving as she ripped into the second animal and consumed it more hastily than the first.

"Sulani," her hatchling's voice distracted her. "What is that smell? It is not one that I have smelled before."

"An enemy." She considered what she knew of these beings.  They were large animals, best taken at night when they couldn't see well enough to defend themselves.  When they didn't usually have killing sticks or vines for throwing.

"I have seen them on our mountains, ma 'itan.  They come in small herds and capture some of our finest males and females.  Once they are forced to fly with these beings, we have rarely seen them again.  Only when their captors have joined Eywa have we seen our friends once more, but they are different somehow ~ not the fellow hatchlings we knew and flew with.  When joined with us, "Sulani's neural whip curled in his direction, "they relay pictures which are hard to believe and harder still to understand."

Sulani craned her neck towards him, fixing her primary eyes on his. "I don't want you near them, ma 'itan.  They are dangerous.  They kill.  They hurt.  They are like the toruk, and you must stay away from them."  She watched his reaction, hoping she had given him enough of a warning.  To her dismay, she saw him perk up with excitement instead.  If she didn't get in front of him and head him off, it was very likely that this particular hatchling would get himself into trouble on purpose....and fast.

With a sigh, she asked, "Are you finished, ma 'itan, or do you need more meat?"

Txura Rolyu

The thoughts of what these enemies looked like filled my head as ma sa'nok described them too me. My curious side was definitely intrigued. My thoughts drifted on their own track and my mind did not listen entirely to all of the warning I was being given. When Sulani's neural queue reached into my sight my mind jumped back to her words. ..."they relay pictures which are hard to believe and harder still to understand," she said.

She looked at me with a stern face hoping to deter me from wanting to discover this new thing, but she had already peaked my interests highly. Especially hearing how deadly they were I wanted to see them. I remembered sneaking upon a Toruk once just to see it when I was younger than I was now. I had nearly lost my neck looking into its nest. That was most definitely scary, but I was going to be more careful looking at these creatures that could not see in the dark like I could.

"Are you finished, ma 'itan, or do you need more meat," Sulani asked me directly breaking me from my thoughts.

"I am happy with my meal ma sa'nok. I don't need a mother's help getting food anymore. You saw how easily I caught this last meal," I say with a toothy grin. "Come to think of it, I helped you get this morning's meal. You only picked up the tetrapteron that I knocked from the sky rather than catching your own. Looks like I might have to start hunting for you soon," I jest to her.

My mother turns her head with a huff, but I can see she is a little amused at my confidence. I hop up to the branch that she is standing on and put my neck around hers in a comforting manner and say, "I will be sure to be careful today. I will take care of myself and you should not worry about me so much. Soon I will be on my own and old enough to mate with a wonderful female. I promise you can help watch over our young when that day comes." With the last sentence I look at my mothers aynari just to make a point. She nudges me away affectionately and says, "Be on your way you goofball. Don't go making your mother think of such emotional things." I laugh a throaty laugh and take off into the sky with a few thrusts of my wings. The sun is not that high in the sky but it is casting deep shadows in the foliage below.

I take in my surroundings checking above and below me for anything that might want to eat me for a morning meal. My home was always unpredictable day to day. Always something new to discover, but today was more exciting than most. After doing the usual surroundings check I began to try and smell the scent that I had encountered not long ago while I was eating the tetrapteron. Sure enough I picked it up without much difficulty. My young nose was very keen. I banked to the West were the smell seemed to be coming from. The smell became very strong in a rather short time and soon I could smell the emotions of some of the creatures down below. I gauged that there were about five of them, whatever they were. To be safe I swooped into the top of the trees and manuevered around the branches and vines getting closer and closer. I landed in a branch when I began to hear the creatures footsteps very close by. Looking around I noticed a yerik trail that had been in use for quite some time. 'These creatures must be on a hunt!' I thought excitedly. I could hear them talking to each other in a strange dialect. I could not understand them but I could hear tension in their tone.

As they came onto the trail I caught my first glimpses of them. They were dark and light blue with stripes going across their bodies. They were not as big as I thought they might be, but they stood as tall as the middle of my neck. What was most bewildering was how they moved. They stood on two feet rather than all six like I had seen every other creature of the land do and only had four limbs. They carried tall sticks with rocks on the ends of them and I guessed that these were the sticks that they threw to harm an ikran like me. I made sure I was hidden behind the foliage of the tree very well when I saw the sticks. I didnt want to die here just because I was curious.

They were touching and pointing at the ground and sniffing the air looking for a trace of something. As they searched the air so did I hoping to know what they were hunting. When I took in a breath I almost coughed from the stench. Some strange, hot, abbrasive, and smokey smell hit me hard. This was not normal. It was not like fire or the red rivers that flowed from the large mountains on the horizon. As I recollected myself I could hear a loud din of what sounded like stomping and screeching rocks. The tree that I was taking refuge began to rumble and shake. I looked in the direction of the smell and I saw it. A very large grey hulk of a beast that seemed to be carrying a small green and pink creature inside of it. Surrounding it were more of these green and pink animals. They were very small and meek looking but trampled through the na'rìng with out any grace or care for the life around them that the blue creatures carried themselves in.

When I looked back at the group of five I noticed that they were sneaking into the underbrush and keeping very quiet. Apparently they were just as curious of these new creatures as I was. I could smell fear in them as the grey behemoth began to enter their clearing. Suddenly the whole party stopped when one of the small things pointed at the ground and started shouting excitedly. They must have spotted the hunting party's footprints. Were they looking for the blue ones? I was confused.

With a loud yip all of the blue ones sprang from their positions and pointed their sticks at the grey monster in a threatening manner. The grey one blanched and suddenly the sound of a thousand thunderclaps exploded from its hands. The sound was deafening to my sensitive ears and I screeched in pain but I could hardly hear myself over the thunderclaps. I took to the air to get away from the monster and away from danger. My heart was pounding with fear and I flew up to one of the floating rocks and hung to the side of it until my mind cleared itself.

The noise had dissapeared as fast as it had arrived and the forest was deathly silent below me. I sniffed the air and I could smell blood and the horrid burning smell. I wanted to know what had become of this encounter even though my body was screaming to stay away from where I had just come from. I looked around me twice to make sure the skies were safe and I noticed the burning smell was dissapearing. The monster must be on the move. 'The clearing should be safe,' I thought.

I glided down to my hiding spot and the scene before me was terrifying. Two of the blue ones lay motionless and surrounded in their blood. One of the pink ones had a stick stabbed through it and up against a tree. it was also motionless. I dived down to the clearing to see more of what had unfolded. I looked at the blue ones and inside me I felt sorry for their passing but I felt no sorrow for the pink one. It was strange, foreign to this world. Its blood was not even the color that the blue ones bled. It was a crimson red and looked poisonous.

As I was looking around a faint shallow breathing came to my ears from the bushes. I craned my neck in the direction and saw one of the blue creature propped against a rock holding its wounds. It motioned for me to come closer and held out a peacful hand. As I neared the creature it spoke to me. "Txura ikran... rutxe... fì'u... munge..." It sounded like a female. The look in her eyes told me she knew she was dying. I bent my head closer to her and she smiled happily. She put something around me head and it slipped down to the base of my neck and stopped. I looked at it for a while with my head bent in a strange angle and I heard the female laugh lightly but then start coughing and making a gurgling sound. She was close to death but she was happy. It confused me very much. I looked at her expecting some sort of explanation. She held her hand to her forehead and spoke the words, "Oel ngati... kameie ma 'eylan." With the last of her breath she closed her eyes and bowed her head. She appeared to be sleeping peacefully but no breath could be heard. I nudged her shoulder but she did not respond. I could feel a sadness welling up in me. This creature had befriended me in its final hour. It was not an evil as my mother had described them. This one was quite the opposite. I bowed my head and began to croon a sad tune I had learned to sing for the passing of one of our own. It only seemed right to honor the life lost here in this place.

Having taken a moment to rest in the newly found cave, I dozed off but was quickly awakened by Familiar sounds.
"The Humans machine guns! Their here! How did they find me?!" I thought to myself.

I quickly hopped to my feet with Sabre in hand, "I've got to make sure they don't find this place." I thought agitatedly.
I jumped out of the cave and free fell for several seconds, until a vine came up beneath me, it lay at an angle attached to the cliffs below me.
While falling I landed on the vine with both feet and began to slide across it in a surfing fashion. What took me several minutes to get up, took me only seconds to get down. I slid to the cliffs edge and just before I reached it, I jumped up which allowed me to glide into the forest.
I grabbed a branch with my left hand and slung myself upward onto another branch. I paused and remained still...

The smell of the Humans machine guns filled the air, I was very close. I looked around with my eyes but didn't move my head.
Trees were shot into splintered messes, from the angle I could find where the shooting came from.
"What were they shooting at?" I wondered.  I traveled very quietly in the direction of the ricochets, and came up to the area of fighting.
I could hear nothing, it was silent... A Silence that was different from normal Silence... This was Death Silence...
I dropped to the ground and kept my right hand on the hilt of my Sabre ready to draw from my back at any moment.
I past a few trees, and the sight nearly crushed my heart. I found the body of another Na'vi. It looked as if he had crawled a ways as there was a blood trail that extended behind him for several yards.

I knelt beside him and rolled him over face up. He was smaller than me and wore different clothing than I. A wound that gaped ominously in his stomach told me he was shot by the Humans. "How could they do this... Why would they do this!" I wondered angrily.
Just then, I heard what sounded like wings. I had to see what else was going on, something told me this unknown Na'vi wasn't the only one.

I carefully began to follow the Dead Na'vi's blood trail, unsure of what to expect.
I remained vigilant.

I staid at the female side for a while after I had finished the durge. I felt a heavy amount of sadness for the blue ones that were slain so pointlessly. A tear or two reached my eyes and rolled all the way down the my long chin and dropped silently into the soil below.

While I was delving deep in my emotions I had not noticed the sound of something moving in the bushes to my back. I whipped my head over in the direction of the sound fearing the worse. What I saw was not my largest fear but the blue one that seemed to be sneaking upon me still startled me. I turned and faced him and he immediately stopped moving. I could see awe and fear in his eyes which were the only things that moved now looking me over with a studious look. I could smell something different about him. He didnt not smell like the other blue creatures had but rather more similar to the pink ones. That set fear in me and I was worried that he would kill me as well.

That was when I saw his weapon. It had the grey color of the evil behemoth that carried thunder in its hands. That was all I needed to see to tell my instincts to get out of there. I stared him down and gave him a menacing hiss before I took to the skies as fast as I could. I needed to get back to Sulani. She needed to hear about all that I had seen and know that I was safe.

I followed the blood trail which led me to a horrific scene. I quickly recognized an AMP suit laying on its back with a spear sticking out of the cockpit. I turned to the direction it had fired and heard something in the distance, bushes blocked my sight, so I carefully moved in that direction.
I had not been sneaky enough, an Ikran had spotted me and met my curious eyes. I stopped, keeping my right hand on the hilt of my blade.
I noticed a Na'vi female laying beside the Ikran, yet the Ikran wore a necklace that was similar to the bead work on the Na'vi female in front of the Ikran. I locked my eyes on the Ikrans, yet I saw no fear in this creature.

I did not want to provoke it, yet somehow I did... within moments the Ikran hissed at me and leaped into the air and began to fly away.
The Ikran had disappeared, so I continued to investigate the area... I found a third Na'vi male also slain by the AMP suit.
They were all young, around my age. "Could this be my fault?" I thought...
I carefully collected each of the three Na'vi and lay them side by side... I wanted to honor them, but I didn't know how.
I touched each of their faces and for the first time I felt a tear roll down my face, my heart felt like my Dragon Sabre when I tried to wield it for the first time when I was very young... it was unliftable.

Unconsciously I heard something cutting through the air and without thinking I brought my Giant Sabre off my back and held it at an angle in front of myself. *Dink!*... an arrow had deflected off my Sabre into the a tree beside me. This entire moment had happened in less than a second.
Still holding my Sabre in front of me, I lowered it just enough for me to look with my eyes. There I saw a Na'vi who had already re stringed another arrow and had it drawn on me. He was only a few steps away, when I caught in the corner of my eye another Na'vi who had moved just slightly, enough for me to pick up the movement.
The other Na'vi was holding a knife and looked ready to come at me... I was not worried about him however, melee was my expertise.

I decided to show them part of who I was, it would then be their decision to attack me or not...
I slowly put my Giant Dragon Sabre in its sheath on my back, the Na'vi with the Bow traced my every movement, as I also traced his...
Locking eyes with the Na'vi holding the Bow, and with all my might I glared at him with furious intensity, as if saying "You'll lose..."
I stood up straight and in doing so the Na'vi's expression had changed from ready to kill, to reconsideration.
The Na'vi to my side who wielded the knife had crept forward to approach me... I was still not worried about him, and I kept my eyes trained on the Na'vi with the bow.

I figured they were together when this meaningless slaughter had happened, these two male Na'vi had run away... I was disgusted with their cowardliness. I took a glance at the three Dead Na'vi before my feet, I felt angry that this happened... and then....
By reflex I had caught an arrow, with the arrow tip only inches from my left eye...
I returned my gaze to the Na'vi holding the bow who now possessed an expression of shier surprise... I snapped the arrow in my hand angrily... "I'm one of them and they want to kill me?!" I thought to myself.

The Na'vi with the bow had no more arrows, the Na'vi with the knife had jumped back, also surprised by the feat...
I calmed myself and knelt back down to the side of the Dead Female Na'vi. I gently put my hand on the side of her face, and closed my eyes.
The two Na'vi who had just attacked me, now also knelt by their Dead Na'vi comrades.

The two Na'vi who were knelt beside me spoke together, word for word, to the Fallen Na'vi. They were honoring them, and I remained with them... I felt a hand on my forearm, I looked up and met the eyes of the Na'vi who had wielded the bow... he said "za'u"
I stood with them and walked with them, they were no longer hostile towards me.
I couldn't help but wonder... "Where are they taking me..."
I remained vigilant.

The wind carried me away from the clearing and towards my home. The day was coming closer to its end and the sun was at my back. Seeing the forest bathed in the red of the sunlight was a calming view. Now that I was free from so much danger I realized how hungry I had become. The small yayo I had that morning had not truly been enough for a whole day of flying and adventure. I looked for an opening in the tree tops where there might be a stream or river where prey would regularly congregate.

I found one in no time twisting along like the stripes that covered the blue creatures. I traced along one for a while and watched for any fwampop or yerìk that might be an easy kill. It wasn't long before I spotted a small herd of ayhwampop and I circled back around and fell one of the large ones quickly. The rest of the herd scattered in fear and I watched them run. It made me feel good that I was able to catch food on my own now. I drank from the river when I finished eating. By then the sun had already set and the world around me began to come to life with light. My own body shown with the bright little lights and my eyes began to be more dependent on their night vision abilities.

After taking one last quick sip from the river I hurled myself into the night sky and went back to my old nest where Sulani would most likely be waiting for me.

As I continued to walk with these two Na'vi warriors, I felt their eyes on my as they walked beside me. I noticed they weren't really focused on me, as much as they were focused on my Dragon Sabre. It was as long as I was tall and I was taller than both of these two Na'vi, meant my Dragon Sabre was larger than they were.

The Na'vi who wields the bow said to the other Na'vi, "fyape tsun po'an sar futa apxa tstal?"

I guess they thought I didn't know Na'vi. I was wearing large brown baggy pants, so they assumed I was with the Humans.
Since I was born, then taken by the Humans into their facility and raised to be who I am, I have never spoken a single word to Neither the Humans or other Na'vi who were in the Base.
The reason being, I've never needed to say anything... My actions have always spoken for me.

The two Na'vi continued to converse about my size and my Sabre, but what got my rapt attention was when the Na'vi with the small knife had said, "fìkem fìtsenge txantslusam poan?".
The Na'vi who had the bow nodded intently... I however became unsure of what to expect, I wasn't afraid of being attacked, I was afraid that I would have to defend myself... I didn't want to hurt these people.

All of the sudden ten more Warriors arrived spears and bows drawn on me, I came to a stop. The two warriors who had brought me this far stepped in, "Kehe!"
I was surrounded, but I already had a strategy planned, just as I was trained to do. I met the eyes of every single warrior, i kept my arms at my sides and stood up straight to show no signs of hostility. I quickly discovered who the Leader of this group of Warriors was when he approached me and put his spear to my throat. The Na'vi who had been traveling with me and brought me here stepped in and said, "Ni'ran Kehe! poan hu Oe!"

Ni'ran then pushed him away angrily, then looked up at me. Ni'ran apparently knew English, "You are not Welcome here False Demon!"
I looked down at Ni'ran who looked at me angrily... "False Demon?" I thought. He thinks im an Avatar... He thinks Im a Human.
I cocked my head a little, Ni'ran put a finger on the hilt of my Sabre and said, "Drop it, and I wont kill you!" I couldn't help but smile, then I gave Ni'ran a Nod in agreement.

I put my right hand on my Sabre handle and ALL the Na'vi warriors jumped to the ready, they were anxious. Pulling my Sabre out of its leather strand sheath, I stuck the tip into the ground and let go of it... Ni'ran smiled and put a hand on my Sabre....
His smile quickly left his face, Ni'ran then put both hands on the blade handle and tried to lift the Sabre out of the ground, he couldn't
All of the Na'vi gawked at the giant Sabre stuck in the ground, then back at me. They quickly bound my hands behind me, I let them.
They pushed me into their camp, leaving my Sabre in the ground behind. Several Na'vi had stayed with my Sabre and continued to look at it and try and pull it out... Needless to say they couldn't... I was now in their home and in front of their Leader, the Olo'Eyktan.
He spoke to me in both Na'vi and English, I still remained Silent. Which made him angry...

The Olo'Eyktan was the tallest of all the other Na'vi in his Clan, however... I was taller than him. My hands were bound behind me, and the Olo'Eyktan pulled out his knife and apparently made a decision to kill me... I had made up my mind as well, I was not going to harm them... So I would accept death by this Na'vi... I felt the knife on my neck which was now pressed firmly, I didn't understand fear, so I did not fear Death...  I felt the knife cut through the first layer of skin....And then, for the first time I felt a rush like never before, my heart raced, my body flexed every muscle, my body did not want to die...
"Ftang!!"
An older Na'vi made his way into the area where we were all gathered... The Olo'Eyktan stopped and quickly pulled the knife away from my neck. This older Na'vi apparently commanded great respect, even the Olo'Eyktans...
"I am Ke'gan... Please forgive the rudeness of my people." he said.   I was stunned at his remarkable English, he must be intelligent.
He continued, "A great warrior such as yourself should not die by the hands, of his own people... Bring his weapon to me."
Six Na'vi warriors ran out of the camp, and moments later they arrived with the help of two more warriors carrying my sabre. The set my Dragon Sabre infront of the old Na'vi, he looked at it and smiled. "You must be very strong to use this weapon, I am returning it to you."  He motioned his hand for me to reclaim my Sabre, and I calmly did so...
With my right hand I picked the Sabre up and re sheathed it. The eight Na'vi warriors who carried it in, were stunned.

This old Na'vi, Ke'gan, had a smile on his face, and an even bigger smile when I sat with him and ate. He asked a series of questions, to which I would answer with a Nod or shake of my head. He knew I didn't talk, but he knew I could.
He had asked so many questions, he was able to learn everything up until now. Which lead him to a story that I found very interesting.

"My young friend, you have suffered greatly. The Humans have taken everything from you, all that this world has to offer." I nodded slowly.
He continued, "They have also given you things that you could not obtain here in this world, you have reached a level of strength we Na'vi have never seen before. You wield a weapon that no one else can. Your power has no match!"
I shrugged, and Ke'gan put his hand on my shoulder, "YOU, and only you can do something I've wanted to do, I am now to old to do it... But you can! I know you can... I was once big and strong like you, but not strong enough...."
He Continued:
"We Na'vi are able to bond our minds with the creatures of our world, that means you too. You have never experienced this before, but in due time we will show you... I witnessed many years ago, Toruk bonding with an Ikran. Toruk and Ikran are to different species but have the same ancestors. Never before has something like this occured. Around 10 years ago I had witnessed Toruk free falling with an Ikran, at first I thought Toruk was chasing the Ikran, but as they neared the ground they separated and then flew together."
I didn't quite understand what Ke'gan meant until he explained further,
"It has been almost 11 years since then, I hadn't thought anything of it until just a few days ago when I witnessed something I thought impossible... Toruk and the Ikran had an offspring! A hybrid as the Humans call it, it was not quite the size of Toruk, but was larger than an Ikran. I call it a Tokran!"

I shook my head a little in confusement at Ke'gan, he laughed loudly, "This Tokran is one of a kind, you my friend are one of a kind as well. It's time you learn where you come from... Get some rest, you will need it for tomorrow. We are going to pay Tokran a visit."

It was unusual for the young hatchling to be gone for so long.  It was quite dark now, although Sulani's ikran eyes could see well in the near-infrared spectrum.  She began to fret.  She peered into the night, hoping for sign or sound of her young one.  She shuffled sideways on the untidy nest, then squirmed and rustled her wings.  A low hum started, a sign that she was anxious and beginning to gear up for another night flight in search of him.

Suddenly he appeared.  He moved quickly and dove into the nest, ducking down and nestling up to her as though he were a recent hatch.  The behavior was so unusual she stepped back and he followed her, wanting the comfort of her presence.

She tipped her head and pushed him a little with her chin vane, pushing him just enough so she could look into his eyes.

"You are not supposed to be alone at this time of night, ma 'itan," she said a bit sternly.  "Every time you do this, you get into trouble.  You know that!  Now look at you ~ scared, but too proud to show it."  She lowered her head and softened her gaze.  "Except to a mother who can read you like a spoor.  So.  Tell me."

She waited expectantly.

I huddled under my mothers wings to find the comfort that only she could provide. Even though she tried to move away I would not leave her warmth and consoling voice. When she spoke to me she was scolding but I could hear her happiness at seeing my return. I knew I had worried her by being gone for so long. She wanted to know what was bothering me so much to be acting still as a young hatchling, but I was afraid I would make her unhappy if I told her all the danger I had pushed myself into that day.

I looked back at her and she could see that I was hesitant to speak. "I will not be upset with you ma 'itan. I am glad you are safe and here with me now. Let me hear what you have seen and experienced today. It will help to ease your mind," she said finishing with a motherly smile in her eyes.

I stepped out from under her and laid myself down in my resting space and recounted the days goings on. I told her how I tracked the strange sent that had permeated the air that morning at our first meal and that it was in fact the smell of the blue creatures. I recounted how I had noticed a new smell of burning and described the great grey behemoth that held thunder in its hands. As I did so I peaked over at her and noticed that she was very intrigued and confused at the same time. I kept myself from laughing at her strange perplexed look. This helped me to go on with the most disturbing part of my day.

I described the attack and how the blue ones did not defeat the grey and small pink ones. The memories still fresh from that day rushed back in. All the smells and sounds. My tail twitched at the thought of them. I finished my story by pointing to the strange garb that was around my neck that the female had placed around me in her final hour of life. I felt sad thinking of her passing.

"I know what you said about the blue ones ma sa'nok but I believe that they are not the ones to be feared. They are a part of Eywa as much as you and I are and I hope that I can come to understand more about them as I become older and wiser," I said in closing.

My mother saw the wisdom in my words and came and laid a wing over me in comfort. "You have had quite a trying day ma 'itan. You have learned much and I am sure you have many questions, but now it is late and we should sleep. I will be with you tomorrow and we should go to Iknimaya to take leave of the dangers you encountered today. I am sure you would like that, yes?" Sulani asked.

"Yes I would like to be with you tomorrow mama. Going to Iknimaya sounds pleasant. I wish you a good nights sleep and I will see you in the morning," I replied. I rubbed my neck along hers in an affectionate way and laid down to rest. The smell of the nest always was a comfort, a smell that meant I was safe. With my mother watching over me I felt that nothing could go wrong.

Light hit me in the face, I felt its warmth and blinding light through my closed eyes. I rolled over to avoid it, only to have someone shake me fully awake. I opened my eyes and to my surprise I now looked upon a beautiful Na'vi woman. Upon seeing her I fully woke and sat up keeping my eyes on her. She was kneeling down beside me and had shaken me awake with one hand, but was holding food in the other.
She wasn't smiling, she wasn't showing any emotions at all. She sat the food ration in front of me and rose back up then walked away. She didn't say a word nor did she give me a second look when she left.

The food ration was neatly wrapped in large leaves for preservation. I opened it to reveal a slab of uncooked meat that still looked fresh from a kill. Ke'gan and I had fallen asleep at the campfire, I looked over the fire pit and there he was, already awake, and smiling at me.
"Please eat... Uhm, you know you never did tell me your name?" Ke'gan cocked his head a little in question.
I looked at Ke'gan holding a perplexed expression myself, so a grabbed a twig and began writing in the ashes of the fire pit...
N A ' V I N ...... N O S F E R A T U .... I dropped the twig and looked at Ke'gan. His eyes focused on what I had written for several moments. Ke'gan studied my writing and held a confused and uncertain expression until he looked up at me with a more serious expression.
By that time I was tearing into the meat slab I was given... Ke'gan began, "Nos'Feratu?! Your last name in NosFeratu!?!" I looked up at him while taking a big bite and nodded a little, however Ke'gan looked on me in disbelief... "Very interesting... When you finish eating, I will show you how to catch an Ikran... the proper way."

I left my Sabre near the campfire and walked to an open area with Ke'gan. He began to show me how to correctly restrain an Ikrans dangerous jaws with a vine. He also explained how the bonding worked and what It meant. In his explanation he described how an Ikran will 'Choose' me, I narrowed my gaze and thought to myself, "Choose me?..." I found that a little odd, because if I went after a Toruk, it would without a doubt try to kill me, would that mean it chooses me? I pondered this a little, only to have Ke'gan get my attention and continue with the training.

Several Hours pass...

The rocks were sharp on my hands, but we finally reached the cliff where I once was. The same vine was attached to the ground, connected with the cliff. Ke'gan, the two Na'vi warriors who had found me were about to climb up this vine to the Ikran nests in the Mountains. The two Na'vi warriors who first found me lead the way up the vine, to my surprise they were quite quick.
I also learned their names, Sefin favored the Bow and Ra'fi was good with a knife. I followed behind them up the vine while Ke'gan, for his old age, managed to stay right behind us... After what still seemed like ages, the same as last time, we reached the first mountain. Sefin and Ra'fi climbed into what I thought was my secret cave, but it wasn't really a secret.
We walked farther into the cave and proceeded up several steps until we reached the other side of the mountain. Several vines dangled near the edge of the cave opening... I looked up to where the vines lead, they disappeared into the clouds...
"...Great... Just great.." I thought to myself.
Ke'gan must have seen my expression because he started laughing. Sefin and Ra'fi didn't even hesitate and jumped onto two separate vines, making their ascension into the clouds. Just as I was about to make a leap toward one of the vines, I heard Sefin yell as loudly as he could. I stopped and Ke'gan came to the caves edge along side me.

Before I knew what was happening I saw an overcast of what looked like an Ikran in the clouds... The shadow got bigger and bigger, Ke'gan questioned loudly, "Toruk?!"....  Out of the clouds and in sight, it was Purple and had Black Stripes...It was larger than an Ikran but smaller than Toruk?
Ke'gan slapped my shoulder, "Hah! The Tokran!... The offspring of Toruk and an Ikran."
This Tokran had a fierce expression, similar to Toruk but had the elegance of the Female Ikran.
Ra'fi and Sefin let go of their vines and dropped into the air, free falling the Tokran chased after them. Ke'gan continued, "Ra'fi and Sefin will be fine, don't worry about them. they have done this before."
I looked at Ke'gan with my eyes wide open with amazement, surely he didn't expect me to go after the Tokran!

Ke'gan laughed and nodded his head, he knew what I was thinking, "Oh yes Na'vin, I do want you to get that Tokran... but not today. Let us make our decent back to camp."
