An earth-size planet in Alpha Centauri has been found, it is the nearest alien world outside our solar system

But, it's too hot to support life. But the scientists are not precludes that there is exisiting more planets there.
This world, is orbiting Alpha Centauri B
So, maybe they will find a world like Pandora?

I was almost going to jump and start dancing, when I saw this incredible news
I hope they find more planets there :)

I hope they find a planet at Alpha Centauri A.
(...a planet like Polypemus and a moon like Pandora and... :-X)

They have ruled out that there is existing gas giants there. mostly Earth-size planets and Super-Earths
I hope they find Earth-like planets there :)
in the habitable zone, instead of in the hot area
But it is great news, that it is finally been found that there is planets in Alpha Centauri :D

The scientists said that the planet now been found, will possible fly away from the Alpha Centauri system, and become a rogue planet. That it's orbit will only stay stable for 250 million years. After 250 mill. it will become unstable

I hoped that this planet would be stable. :(

250 million years is stable for ours, and "the next few" generations, so as far as WE are concerned, "It's STABLE".

It is certainly 'stable' by the fleeting existence of humankind. But in terms of life in gegeral, we have had life here for about 500 million years, perhaps more. If we consider evolution as it is currently understood, 250 million years is not likely enough time for life as we humans experience it, to evolve.

In 2017, will the European Southern Observatory install a new fiber-fed and cross-dispersed echelle spectrograph (R = 140,000) for the visible wavelength range (350 nm – 720 nm) to the Very Large Telescope in northern Chile.

ESPRESSO is specifically designed to look for Earth-like planets, and will provide radial-velocity measurements several times more precise than those used to find Alpha Centauri Bb.

So this will help to look after more rocky planets in Alpha Centauri with larger orbits.

I think there will be a competition. Cause in that same year, NASA is going to launch up the James Webb Space Telescope into space to search after alien planets, study the evolving of The Universe. Not only searching after planets, but alien moons. This means that the real Pandora moon can be found.

Searching after an alien moon in Upsilon Andromedae, is really needed. They have found an alien gas giant planet in the habitable zone around Upsilon Andromedae, 44 light-years away.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upsilon_Andromedae_d

Characteristics

Upsilon Andromedae d lies in the habitable zone of Upsilon Andromedae A as defined both by the ability for an Earthlike world to retain liquid water at its surface and based on the amount of ultraviolet radiation received from the star. Simulations suggest that even on eccentric orbits, terrestrial planets may be able to support liquid water throughout the year. Such an Earthlike moon would have summer and winter corresponding to periastron and apastron respectively, worldwide at the same time, rather than alternating between northern and southern hemispheres as on Earth due to an axial tilt. This suggests that if sufficiently large moons of Upsilon Andromedae d exist, they may be able to support extraterrestrial life.
