Anything new in astronomy?

Yeah, actually. There is coming an asteroid at the size of 58 meter really near Earth next month, 15th of february

It will pass 0.09 lunar distances, that will say it passes 34,500 km. So I guess you can see it with telescope, and maybe a big possibility with binoculars.

check on spaceweather.com to see NEA(Near-Earth asteroids).
http://spaceweather.com/

From what I have read, this will be exceptionally difficult to see with a typical telescope, because it will be moving so fast when close to earth. A few advanced amateur astronomers, using their own drive software, may be able to do it. I am not one of those  :(

I had a snack time with the moon today!

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have better moon pictures.

Astrophotography is interesting. For our first astropictures, we can snapshot the moon, for example. I did it with the moon and also Jupiter.. and the Sun.

Some very precise astronomical measurements cast serious doubts on the theories for dark energy:

http://www.scientificcomputing.com/news-DS-Einstein-in-the-Catbird-Seat-012413.aspx?et_cid=3058818&et_rid=41422502&linkid=http%3a%2f%2fwww.scientificcomputing.com%2fnews-DS-Einstein-in-the-Catbird-Seat-012413.aspx

These measurements validate what Einstein predicted and cast serious doubt on most ideas of the nature of what is causing the universe's expansion rate to accelerate.

Yesterday, I confirmed that I can only take in picture Jupiter and the Moon, because my camera is not made for this.  :'( But I have a gift for you:

I'm lucky to have a dark sky (but not as dark as the countryside sky) where I observe. There's almost no lights, so we can see stars brighter.  :o All this behind two windows.

I observed Aldeberan (which looked a little bit orange), Pleiades (I found 6 stars), Hyades, Jupiter, Orion (with a lot of stars), Nihal, and Arneb. I note also Meissa.

I also have a new wiki about my astronomy observations: http://kameyu-astronomy.wikia.com

If you are on a budget, you could get the 4.5 inch optimized for astrophotography  optical tube assembly, keep it in it's box, and on subsequent month's get the tracking mount, and the eyepieces. By the time you had everything paid off and in your possession it would be spring, and much more comfortable viewing weather.

I copied Orion's description of the scope below.

If you're looking for an exceptional telescope for astrophotography that won't cost you big bucks, then check out this affordable alternative. We've optimized the optics of our popular short-focal-length Orion StarBlast 4.5 Imaging Reflector Optical Tube to give a fully illuminated field of view with the Orion StarShoot Deep-Space Imager and similar small-chip astronomical charge coupled device (CCD) cameras. The result is a compact imaging telescope with a price that will please the budget-conscious astrophotographer — beginner or expert — and with the performance that will give pricey refractors a run for their money.

With its big 4.5" parabolic mirror and fast f/4 focal ratio, the Orion StarBlast 4.5 Imaging Reflector Optical Tube provides exquisite, high-quality images and it's simply the most affordable astrophotography-optimized telescope in the market. Unlike refractors, the Orion StarBlast introduces no chromatic aberration with negligible coma. The fast focal ratio also minimizes exposure time and guiding errors.

To achieve 100% illumination with the StarShoot Deep Space Imaging Camera, we slightly widened the secondary mirror and extended the focal point further out in the focuser. The short focal length provides a wide field of view for imaging with small-chip charage coupled device (CCD) cameras. While the telescope works with standard 1.25" eyepieces (Sirius Plossl recommended) some wide-field telescope eyepieces may require the use of an extension tube to reach focus.

At only 3.7 lbs, the StarBlast 4.5 doesn't require a heavy mount and it transports easily to your favorite site. The 1.25" focuser accepts 1.25" telescope eyepieces for visual use as well.

The Orion StarBlast 4.5 Imaging Reflector Optical Tube is offered as tube assembly only, with no accessories.

I would like to buy a good telescope and observe galaxies and planets and the whole sky. ;) But I think I should use once my new (cheap) telescope, or simply observe with the naked eye, like I do since my first observations. Even if it costs $100, I live in an apartment.

If I have the chance to buy one better, I'll buy it inside my country. Take it from another country will cost too much, because I would need to pay more.  :(

Also, observatories are too far from our house.  :( Drive 300km for one night of observation (also we don't know if the conditions will be perfect) is not very cool, except of the observation. There are two observatories near my house, one at Val-Bélair, another at Cap-Rouge. I can a day go there. :)

Thanks for your suggestions, anyway.

If you are thinking of buying a starter telescope, look at this page of 'scopes from orion:

http://www.telescope.com/Telescopes/Reflector-Telescopes/pc/1/11.uts

You will see the original Starblast here, as a tabletop Dobsonian 'scope ($200). There is a six inch version for just $10 more. If you can't spend quite that much, tere are several similar 'scopes there for between $60 and $120.

The 'scopes that were mentioned esrlier, like the Starblast astrograph are a poor choice for a first telescope, as they are just optical tubes. You will need a mount of some sort, a tripod, and some eyepieces to have a setup you can actually use.

I know you are interested in astrophotography, but I would hold off on that for a while. Even entry leve astrophotography is going to cost several hundred dollars, and you still need to learn the sky, etc. It is far more important at this point, that you become familiar with the night sky and how to find various objects.

I have use of a 4.5 inch Starblast that belongs to our astronomy club (I keep the club's telescope collection, and have 'scopes up to 24 inch available to use and learn from). I keep this 'scope close to the front door for 'grab and go. I can be observing in 30 seconds with this 'scope, whereas it takes about 20 minutes to set up my 8 inch 'scope, level the mount, align the drive computer, etc. (8 inch LX200). The Starblast is actually a very demanding 'scope because it has a low F-ratio (F4) and a short focal length. That 'scope is really 'hard' on eyepieces, and is definitely improved by using good eyepieces. The plossl eyepieces included are above average for a small telescope, and you shouldn't use anything of lesser grade than a plossl eyepiece in this 'scope. the two included eyepieces are good for starters.

Use a 'scope like this for a year and learn the sky under all seasons. Then decide if you still enjoy it enough to invest in a more sophisticated setup. Join an astronomy club, or if you can't do that, participate in online astronomy forums. You can look at our club website at http://www.astronomynv.org One thing you will see there is a series of rotating astrophotos put up there mainly by the two people in the club who have good astroimaging setups. (One person has well over 5 figures invested in his setup!)

One nice thing about Astronomy is that you don't have to spend tons of money to 'play'. I bought my LX200 back in 2005, and made only one sizeable investment since (for a 35 mm Panoptic eyepiece). Looking at the sky is always free, and amateur astronomers still routinely make discoveries, despite megabuck sky survey 'scopes run by major observatories.

One last thing to do if you have a smartphone, a tablet, or a Mac desktop computer, is to obtain a star map program like Sky Safari. SkySafari comes in three 'flavors', a $3.00 version, a $15.00 version and a $40 version. For starters, the $3.00 program does everything you need. A 'planisphere' is also an extremely useful tool for getting to know the night sky. Orion sells these for a few dollars, and you can also find them at bookstores. They may even include one with a 'scope purchase. Paper star maps are useful, too. If you get a star map, get the laminated kind that won't get wet from dew. I find now though, that I use Sky Safari most of the time, which saves having to lug around a cumbersome star atlas.

Well, that very interesting information. Irayo!
I will ask my friend for a Telescope, becaue he have one, but he don't use it. I don't know the equipment his telesccope.
Currently, I will not buy a telescope, because I havn't enough money and time for it. If I want grandious from space,
I can drive to a planetarium that's located ~20km away.
They have really good equipment. :)

You should get a tripod for your camera. Does it have a tripod socket? Almost all cameras do.
