How bright would you estimate the comet is?
I would say that approx. 4.5 mag :)

Besides the Hyadaes, what are your favorite open clusters in Taurus and Gemini?
Did you look at M44?
Taurus: Pleiades, NGC1647 and nice pair NGC1807+1817
Gemini: M35 and near NGC2158

I often observe M44 and M67 in Cancer, however not during last observation.

And what are your favorite open clusters in Taurus and Gemini? :)

Yeah, this is supernova type Ia.

I remember that at 2014, such one supernova exploded in galaxy M82 (10 million light years far away). It was such bright that I could it totally easily see through my telescope even on urban sky :) It were nice observations!

Vawmataw

I tried to see the comet tonight but nothing showed up. I will wait a little bit.  :-\

Other than that I observed NGC 2244, M41 and the 37 cluster.

I think that the best time for you will be when comet will be near M45 (so higher above horizon)
(your southern horizon is light polluted, if I remember?).

Yes, but I thought the comet would be visible. Maybe the surface brightness is low.

Hmm ... I would say that central part of coma (approx. 10 arcmin in diameter) has quite high surface brightness, other parts are really quite faint.
So at least that central part should be visible for you (comet is higher above horizon by each day now)

Vawmataw

Ah, maybe I'll have to wait until it has a better position.

I would say that right time will come very soon :)

Positions of 46P/Wirtanen at December:

Toliman

Nice observation of 46P/Wirtanen right now!

There was cloudy with rain today, but after sunset slouds gone away for while so I could observe comet again. Sky was super transparent and sky conditions excellent. Comet was nice visible through binocular 10x50 (already through it comet was seen as stellar core with coma) and through my telescope it was gorgeous.

Just it's pity that seems clouds return back...

Vawmataw

So I found the comet and it was as bright as M104, i.e. I saw it with strong, averted vision.

It was in the city glow so I barely saw anything. Other than that, the sky was clear. I will try again at a later time on Saturday.

At weekend comet will pass between Hyades and Pleiades. It's sufficient high above horizon, isn't it? Or also this part of your sky is significantly affected by urban light glow?

Seems that I will have clear sky tonight :)

The position of the comet was perfect, otherwise I wouldn't have detected it. However, at 9 pm, the constellation would be high enough in the sky to have a sufficiently dark background. But I only had time at 6 pm.

Nìvingkap I enjoyed the Moon with delta and gamma Capricorni through the telescope.

True, at 6:00pm comet is still relativelly low above horizon. I could observe it later or even during his culmination above south.

Nice, I saw crescent of the Moon through transparent layer of clouds yesterday too. Moon was visible but stars not yesterday.

And I observed. I had few hours of clear sky after sunset and evening twilight.

I observed Mars, Uranus, Neptune, comet 46P/Wirtanen and some deepsky (quite big number f open clusters in Lacerta, Cepheus, Cassiopeia and Perseus, globular clusters M2 and M15 and nebulae NGC281 Pacman Nebula, IC1848+1805 Soul and Heart Nebulae.

Comet was again nice and nebuae was gorgeous through UHC.

Vawmataw

I planned to catch the comet again but it will clear out at like 11 or midnight. lol

11:00 pm is excellent time for observation of this comet now ;) It's too late for you?
