Or so they say.

The story goes that young Nong Youhui was born with bright blue eyes.  Concerned, his father took him to doctors in Dahua, southern China.  It turns out that not only does this boy have blue eyes, but that in the dark they will give a greenish-blue flashback like a cat's.  Not surprisingly, he can see in very low light conditions where most humans cannot.

His condition is thought to be luekodermia, which leaves his eyes vulnerable to sun damage.  It also allows him to see and read in total darkness.

Hrh  ;D Well, this is pretty... creepy, somehow  ??? But yet awesome in a way.
Cat-eyed humanoids... next step in our evolution? Maybe a preparation for the dark, over-industrialized post-apocalypse future?  :-X :P

Or just a marker to indicate one probability of human development, should the race ever need it.

There are lots of real but stranger-than-fiction things out there that we don't know about it.

Fascinating. The eye is a most peculiar organ. There's also those who can see UV. It's just a shame these abilities come with negative side-effects, like sensitivity to sunlight.

Cat eyes?? That is truly a good thing! I would very much like a set, and wouldn't mind dark glasses for daytime use. the next thing needed is canine and carnassal teeth.....

Do you perhaps mean am'a lu oeru futa fì'u lu sìltsan?

I hope the boy grows to have useful vision. But for me, a die-hard cat person (and lionkeeper) this would be good, along with being able to eat like a cat.

If you like eating like a shark. They have their food supported by water, so they can swim at it and strike it. They tend to swallow food in huge chunks. Their teeth, used as a set, are like a big 'flesh punch'. The carnassal teeth of mammalian carnivores are designed to cut flesh into relatively small  swallowable pieces, which are then swallowed without chewing. They are also generally tough enough to crush bone, which is important, as the nutrients in bone are essential to their survival. The long canine teeth are mostly used for precision killing bites, and do not do much during the meal. OTOH, sharks kill by blunt trauma and massive bite wounds.

Did they just grow that way? Do you have any bite problems?

I have a couple overlapped incisors, and a significant overbite. It is interesting that a dentist has never flagged this as an issue. But as far as I am concerned, teeth are for eating, not looking nice!

well they grew like I  I      so they look like they fit together, instead of I I.  The pointyness and double rows are from wear/cavities.
                           I  I                                        d                        I I

And i havent had any problems, other than my lower jaw has to go back for my teeth to come together (not sure what overbite is, im thinking its what i just said, lol)

In a normal person, the tips of the incisors touch when the jaw is closed. Overbite is when the top incisors tips fall in front of the tips of the bottom incisors. In my case, the tips of the lower incisors are almost touching the gumline of the upper incisors.

Your case sounds just the opposite, which is called 'underbite'. I have never heard of the double row phenomena, I just have to make sure you don't ever bite me ;)

consequently he is very sensitive to light.  a lighter blue like that would  be more sensitive to light and filter less, so more light hits the retina.  I have deep blue eyes myself and I see quite well in the dark, apart from my Asperger's tendencies.

lol, they're for defense only  ;D

And now that you describe it, i think i have overbite. and the double rows are just from deep cavities, lol

Yeah, this is for real.  She's listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's hairiest teenager. It makes you wonder if she got together with the cat-eyed Asian boy, maybe something really interesting could develop?
