In short Sanal Edamaruku is an Indian rationalist who was asked to explain some water (supposedly tears or blood?) dripping from a statue of Jesus Christ on the cross. He said there was a broken sewage pipe causing the issue and said so ...  Edamaruku has been charged with blasphemy and was eventually allowed to leave the country and has (rightly or wrongly) been supported by atheist organisations world wide having him talk at venues round the world. The charges still remain and he cannot return to his country ... bearing in mind the priest were apparently giving this  miraculous "blood" or "tears" (from a sewage pipe) to the masses because of its claimed healing powers do you think he should be charged? Was he right to do this in the first place?

BTW, I do think the supporting organisations are just using him to further a cause ... yes I support that cause but it's still seems to me to be true that their motives are at least questionable.
