Neat! :D It has a long way to go, we still don't know all about how memory works, but this is cool anyway.

Kind of related: I read an article a while back about how some scientists had grown a bunch of brain cells of mice and actually had them reproduce a stimulus for about 12 seconds. They likened it to short time memory. I'll post a link if I can find it again.

Interesting.

That makes the plot of planet of the apes so much more plausible now.

On a side note, will it make humans different in other ways?  I wonder.

Human No More

Interesting. Theoretically, you could use it to add memory as well - increased capacity, or downloading new information :)

Eltur tìtxen si...  I remember seeing something like this on 60 Minutes (or some similar show).

On a relared note: tonight's 60 Minutes episode featured a special type of memory recall: give someone a specific date, and they should be able to recall their life events on that specific date.  It's really quite remarkable, as most of us don't match dates to life events like that.

Who wants to bet on "jarhead" meaning something completely different by 2150? :P Or 2050, for that matter.

Oh no! :o
It's a little bit spooky. With the memory implant (if it is possible to use in human brains) and some other implants (like prosthetic arms and legs), we will all look like Robocop. :o
I guess they will implant a controller to manage the implant memory and transcode the brain signals into binary code and vice versa, just to communicate the brain with the implant memory.
So, if we want to up great the firmware of the implant, will we have a USB connection?. (USB jack which will come out from our heads, something like tsaheylu)?
P.S. USB is used to connect PnP devices and tsaheylu is used as neural connection between the Na'vi and the other animals and Eywa. Hahaha.
Brrrr!! It will be very spooky. ???
(Just kidding).
