comet Elenin is falling apart

The icy comet Elenin made its closest pass by the sun this month, but it may have come out of the event worse for wear, according to an Australian astronomer.
Images and video of comet Elenin recorded by amateur astronomer Michael Mattiazzo in Castlemaine, Australia, appears to show the object losing some cohesion in late August and early September as it neared its closest approach to the sun — a point in its orbit called "perihelion" — on Sept. 10.
The comet is officially known as C/2010 X1 Elenin, and was discovered in December by Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin.

stay tight everybody!!!!!!!!!!!

the sun has erupted an X-flare(actually two X-flares since 22nd of september)

News from spaceweather.com:
A coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth's magnetic field at approximately 12:15 UT on Sept. 26th. The impact caused significant ground currents in Norway. Also, the Goddard Space Weather Lab reports a "strong compression of Earth's magnetosphere. Simulations indicate that solar wind plasma [has penetrated] close to geosynchronous orbit starting at 13:00UT." Geosynchronous satellites could therefore be directly exposed to solar wind plasma and magnetic fields. Stay tuned for updates.

If the solar flare is very powerful, big areas can lose the power in a month, or over a month(If it harms the electricity very hard)
