Trust the Computer!  :P

Also, this bit specifically might be intriguing:
QuoteCognitive computers may eventually be used for understanding human behaviour as well as environmental monitoring.

Intelligent computer networks being used to monitor the environment... this sounds familiar.  :P

so that computer's will be very much smarter?

bommel

they are faster than me, but smarter? They are as smart as the programmer who wrote the programs for it ^^

It's not programmed. It learns.  ;)

It may learn, but it'd still need to be programmed so it knows how to learn. A processor without code running on it is useless. Beside, programming would be needed to tell it what to do before it's had a chance to learn anything.

That reminds me of portals =3 evil learning pc that somehow learned that killing is better than training... somewhat... half pc then... fine fine fine: a human brain attached to a robot... but that sort of counts as a computer =P

kidding. but really, even systems which learn have been intricately programmed to be able to learn. ;D

What about that episode of Next Gen where they landEd on that deserted planet? The population that was destroyed by their own invention.
