AIDS is Probably not a problem on Pandora.  This article is making claims of a cure.  An interesting article on the exploitation of unique mutations.  I wonder if this result can be duplicated.

The real world implications are huge.

Even if a certain HIV infected relative of mine wanted to attempt the treatment, he could scant afford the procedure, nor the trip to Germany where it would most likely be performed.

In the Fictional world where the RDA exists, I am betting they charge an arm and a leg for successful treatments of disease in much the same way as eluded by Jake about repairing spinal injuries...

Cells are awesome ^^
I didn't catch what caused the neurological problems that patient got. Hopefully it isn't something that would be repeated because this seems like a promising solution even though it would be very expensive.

And sorry to hear about your relative, ma Txur'Itan.. that sucks..

I think that HIV cases are too complicated to see one event as causal, it may still need investigation.

The disease HIV itself causes other diseases to gain a foothold firstly, and secondly, the medicine cocktail that I have seen my uncle take, could literally choke a donkey. This medicine cocktail has its litany of side effects to think about and consider.  There is also the possibility of a genetic predisposition towards the neurological disorder that was not accounted for.  More details will have to come from reports on findings by examining doctors.

My uncle has been living with HIV since the late 1980's.  He really would not want me discussing much more about him than that, but I have become used to the idea that he could die very soon for the last 20 years now.  He has been holding on because of his diligence on the pill cocktail.
