So, what's the chemical element you like best? (Please explain why)

For example: Copernicium because it's the newest named one.

P.S.: I didn't want to make this in a poll because that would get much too big - if it even works  ::)

Yttrium, purely because i love to say the name.

*purely coincidence, i was listening to The Elements by Tom Lehrer on repeat before XD*

Praseodymium!   Because it's fun to use in spelling bets ;D  Also, it gets -very- cold :o

Element #66: Dysprosium (another fun-to-try-to-spell name)
Element #666: *omitted for safety ::) ;D*

Man, I'm surprised no one said unobtanium yet!! Mine has to be ununoctium, the newest element, and one my physical sciences teacher needed help pronouncing.

Human No More

Hmm, interesting question. Possibly hydrogen because it's so simple yet extremely useful, especially in the future.

Unobtanium is no element, its a composite material (So says the ASG) :)

Somewhere in the ASG, I saw Unobtanium mentioned as element 120. If so, that would make it an alkaline earth, with some interesting chemical properties.

If it were a composite, we should be able to make it here. Then, the RDA wouldn't have to go to Pandora, and we could all be friends with the Na`vi.....

As far as my favorite element, it varies from day to day. But most usually, it is Molybdenum.
Its a hard, tough metal that imparts similar qualities to steels. It is also used a lot in high power electron devices (read: vacuum tubes)

Favourite element? Carbon of course! Carbon is the building blocks of our known world. Can't get any cooler than that.

Second favorite would have to be... Really any of the alkali earth metals. Very interesting things.

IDK... I mean, I think that it would have to be three of them.  Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen.

Other than that, Potassium is cool, especially if you throw a block of it in a lake...

"Cool" does not begin to approach it's power. Potassium (or Sodium really, both'll do it) + Water = rapid expansion of gas, in this case, hydrogen, resulting in one of the most awesome explosions known to man... If only it was still the 1960s where you could buy both of them down the street at your drug store... Oh how much fun we'd have.  :o ::)

Hehehe the chemists at my university used to have this tradition where they'd take a huge lump of sodium and throw it in the river as part of some kind of celebration... but then they realized how evil this was and stopped.

Why not just use Caesium for that?

Because it's expensive as hell.
