I'm still beating my head against the grammar, slowly, but I have some loan words to run by y'all. Are Kllìngan and Syakspir reasonable Na'vicizations of Klingon and Shakespeare, do you think?
(Which should let you figure out what I'm planning to ask, really.)

Oe irayo seiyi ngaru!

Kllìngan is just GREAT!

It might be Tìlìngan or Lì'fya leTngan if you were trying to copy the native pronunciation a bit more closely.  ;)

I would go with Syeykspir for our frined from Meri 'Ol 'Ìnglän.

I actually think that TLL is not as close to Klingon tlh (ˈt͡ɬ) as TÌLÌ or TeT in coda after E juxtaposed to LÌ. Those were not typos. But, anyone who really cares should check with Lance R. Casey. He would be the authority on the matter in the Community.

Jane MacMillan

Thank you very much.   :D
I am so excited about getting to meet everyone and speak a little Na'vi in person.

Please post your question here or PM it to me once you've settled on it completely and I'll pass it by K. Pawl in advance. He just wants a opportunity to think about them so that he'll have more interesting answers.

Txantsan!

...and YOUR question(s)?

`Eylan Ayfalulukanä

When all is said and done, we should have each person who asks a question write down what they said, especially if the presentation cannot be recorded. This can be done afterwards, so we have a complete set of notes (unless they involve linguistics, the answers to the questions aren't even important for language learning purposes. It is the questions, and any other Na`vi that gets spoken there ). I think there is a lot to learn from hearing a lot of different people speak Na`vi-- something that we can all study and learn from.

I'd actually be interested in "comparing notes" with you at some point this weekend, since you've actually, you know, studied this stuff and I've been learning it for Na'vi.  (Though I have had multiple linguists compliment how well I speak my ejectives.)

He has already rejected a question along these lines. It was worded slightly differently, but was essentially the same topic. I'm not comfortable passing this by him again because these are SO similar.

This one seems fine. I'll send it by him, but it may be a bit similar to some other things that people are asking; primarily in that it's 'close enough' subject matter that it may get answered inadvertently if someone else is called on first. This also strikes me as something that someone from the general audience might ask in English. That might cut you off at the mehinamtil, so to speak.

Another one?

These 4 are available and pre-approved:

 - Lolen tengkrr a ayvurtuhu tskxekeng sarmi a pesìlenìl heykangham frato?
 - What was the funniest thing that happened while you were training the actors in Na'vi?

 - Vewng tì'usongit lì'fyayä tengkrr txana krr fterem mìkam hama rel haya pumsì a fì'uri ngaru peu lu ngäzìk frato?
 - What is the hardest thing about dealing with the language now that there is a long hiatus between films?

 - Furia 'ongokx 'erong nìtut lìfyaolo' leNa'vi, eltur ngeyä tìtxen si frato a 'u fu pum a hek frato lu 'upe?
 - What is the most interesting or curious thing to you about the emergence of a Na'vi language fan community?

 - Var ngivop lì'fyati a fì'uri pehapxì sunu ngaru frato?
 - What is your favorite part of continuing to create the language?

Want one of those? You're welcome to change the Na'vi as long as the heart of the question stays the same.

Folks,

These are the questions I know about so far. If you're planning to ask something that's not on this list (including YOUR not being on this list), please let me know what you intend ASAP. This is all in the interest of (A) giving everyone an equal chance to engage and (B) having everything in the panel go as smoothly as possible on Saturday afternoon.

Irayo nìli.

This seems fine. I was using VURTU* for actor.

Would you be willing/interested to append/extend your question by adding:

Ulte tskxekeng sarmi a krr, pesìlenìl heykangham frato?*

If not, no problem. It just seemed like it had a good synergy with your question and he's already 'blessed' it. He has something to say about CCH Pounder in this context, apparently...

Seiyi irayo.

Jane MacMillan

All right, I think I have one. I'm not sure what noun case to use in passive voice. I don't think there is one, but I could be very wrong.

Syeykspirä ayvur lu swey mì nì'awve lì'fya leKllìngan a fko plltxe. Payvur 'Rrtayä rerol pxawolo'txep kelutralä?

also, I'm not sure about rerol for "are sung"; again with the passive voice. I'm a scientist, you'd think I'd have that one down pat.

Thank you in advance for any corrections!
