Those words may have been ad-libbed.

As far as the words slu Na'viyä hapxì, the reference might not necessarily have pretained to eating Tsu'tey, but that the substance of his body would be recycled and ultimately become 'part of the people' through the 'circle of life'. Or, it might be some cultural reference that we do not yet know about or understand. But curious words, nonetheless. In any case, that is one of the most moving scenes in the entire film.

That said, there are 'Rrtan cultures that do eat their dead. It is interesting that these people have a very high incidence of spongiform encehalopathies (mad cow disease-like/prion-mediated disease).
