Kaltxì!

Could you please translate the phrase "thank you for your attention" for me? I am a beginner, currently with poor understanding of the Na'vi grammar, but I would like to use the phrase in my presentation (at a university; not linguistics) as a form of an original ending, possibly inspiring others to learn Na'vi with me.

I was able to find the sentence "Rutxe tivìng mikyun, ma frapo!", meaning "Your attention, please, everyone!" If my understanding is correct, "tivìng mikyun" is supposed to be "your attention", derived from "tìng mikyun", which is "to listen" (give + ear). "Oe irayo si ngaru" is supposed to mean "I give thanks to you" and using information from another source, I have come to the final sentence "Tivìng mikyun oe irayo seiyi ngaru!", which I think consists of right words, but is grammatically incorrect.

Thank you in advance. :)

I'd say

Oe seiyi irayo ayngaru tìtusìngìri mikyun (ma frapo)
(ngaru = singular "you", ayngaru = plural "you all" / tì-...<us>... = gerund / -(ì)ri = topic marker, see quote below)

but it doesn't have to be correct, because I'm still a beginner, too.  :-\ So please wait for correction/approval/correct sentences, I just wanted to give it a try. :D

well we (as a community) don't know EVEYRTHING there is to know about this topic marker...but we have basically been presented with templates in the canon of situations where it makes grammatical sense and are guaranteed to be able to correctly use it. such are:

[thing needing luck]-ri lrrtok sivi nawma sa'nok. (good luck for something idiom)
[thing thanking for]-ri irayo si oe ngaru. (thanking for something)
[thing waiting for]-ri pey oe. (waiting for something)
[thing being responsible for] kllfro' oe. (responsibility for something)

(...)

Hey, and welcome to LN! :) If you're learning Na'vi, too, why haven't you signed up/written here earlier? ^^

I'd say:  Furia aynga tìng mikyun (ma frapo), irayo seiyi oe.

Edit:  Oops, my fingers just copied from the sentence above instead of asking my brain.  I did mean to write "aynga" instead of "ayngaru"...  Thanks for the catch, ma Wm.

I'd say:  Furia ayngaru tìng mikyun (ma frapo), irayo seiyi oe.

I think this is close.  I assume the audience is being thanked for listening rather than being listened to, so I feel they ought to be the subject of the listening:

Furia aynga tìng mikyun, irayo seiyi oe.  Equally correct (Na'vi syntax is flexible):
Aynga tìng mikyun a fì'uri, irayo seiyi oe.

The parts I coded in purple are performing the same grammatical task.

Ma Eana Unil, except in poetry, topicals should probably go first in a clause.  The single time Paul hasn't put a topical first is in one of the songs in the ASG.

Ah, yeah, right. Well, then it would be tìtusìngìri mikyun oe seiyi irayo ayngaru, but I guess Aylara Aratis suggestion might be better anyway :)

Just small change in word order:
Ma frapo, furia aynga tìng mikyun, irayo seiyi oe
or
Furia aynga tìng mikyun, irayo seiyi oe fraporu
The second one is probably a little better, IMHO
Oe lu skxawng skxakep. Slä oe nerume mi.

Thank you for the welcome. I registered here on 23 April 2011 with a determination to learn, but was shortly after that taken off course by various academic tasks. Now that I have more time for leisure activities, I intend to finally start again. :) People have done some incredible work to make learning Na'vi much easier than three years or even that roughly one year ago, so I hope it will be a great experience.

the problem with gerunds in Na'vi is that unlike in English, you cannot apply objects or arguments to them (apparently except adverbs O.o) e.g.

I like eating pie
finding this is rare,...

the gerund cannot be used like that in Na'vi. (to my knowledge)
instead, we have to say:

I like this: to eat pie.
rare is this: to find this thing.

and so on. ;)
