Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. :D

Okay.. then I'll install Win 98.
I have to warn you: every Microsoft OS that is still based on DOS isn't capable of CPU wait cycles. This means that if you are running a VM it will use up 100% of your CPU even if it doesn't do anything it all. AFAIK there are some user-written patches but I don't trust them...

Thanks. But isn't that... a bit.. weird? But hey, Microsoft.. ;D

Still have an old PC running Win 3.1...don't use it for much though. Also have it installed in a VM...

Virtual PC 2007 has a fix that issue. The VMAdditions disc has a folder of DOS files, one of which is called idle.com. Run it from DOS and the VM won't hog your CPU cycles anymore.

Wow, thanks! Though I'm using VirtualBox... maybe I just check out that file.

You're welcome. I put up with the VM hogging my CPU for almost a year before I discovered that.

Not sure if it works in VirtualBox though...I'm testing it as I post.

Just tested it. Works fine. You need the idle.com from VPC 2004 though.

Something is wrong with the DOS VM additions that come with 2007 (the ISO is corrupt - the files appear to exist, but copying yields a "File not Found")

Old doesn't mean useless. I still have a use for my Win98 system...I play a few old flight simulators that just don't run right on faster hardware. The hardware is old enough that 2000 and XP are slow.

As for Win3.1...I use it just for laughs. I surfed another site I belong to over the summer from my Win3.1 system...and got a comment from the server admin about my user agent...

According to a list online, for Win3.1 w/ IE3: Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.0; Windows 3.1) :P The site looked horrible in IE3, but was usable.

VMWare is stubborn with old OSes. I have it (and Win2.0) running in VPC though :) http://img38.imageshack.us/i/winlegacy.jpg

I went trough the top shelf in my Dads office, looking for old software that's just laying around, and I found several floppy disks that I think contains a very old version of Mac OS. On of them was labeled "Installation CD" for some reason..

Hm...interesting. Any clue what hardware is that old version for?

I just found a copy of PowerPoint 4 (floppies), an Office 95 CD, an Office 97 CD, a Windows 95 Upgrade CD, and two regular Windows 95 CDs.
