well, I sometimes view this as a grey area, piracy has some unintended benefits, as in spreading media that wouldn't otherwise get out, or It aids in preserving something by the effects of distribution.  As I see it, times are changing, the availability of information is changing the way media is presented.  And p2p software has even been utilized in mainstream software as a way to better use bandwidth.

Yes, BUT only in one of these cases:

* When something is no longer sold new
* When I am planning on buying it, but lack the money at the moment, or it's not out, or I'm waiting for it to arrive.
* When I already own or owned it in some form but want it in a different form (eg as an eBook) or lost/broke the original.




I don't pirate stuff that's still sold new that I don't intend on buying.

Used to pirate music to some extent (bout 50 or so song I think...), then the govt. rattled their sabres and I edged away from it. Since then I've become a bit of an audiophile, so buy physical copies on principle for the improved quality. MP3 just doesn't cut it, I prefer lossless/high bitrate.

Yes, but I buy stuff that I really like and since a few months ago I have subscribed to the streaming music service Spotify,, and I'm not sure if I can live without it anymore

I want to be able to see more movies in theaters, but living 60km from the nearest theater causes some problems
