HMV is in receivership in Canada and will close by the end of April.
Who has gone there during their childhood?

Bought a USB powered external 3.5" floppy drive. I can now access data on all my old disks from when I was a kid. So much nostalgia...

This is the OS my father bought when our computer broke, back in 2008.

I still have my first laptop, Toshiba with Windows Vista, and it still works pretty good (Never understood all the complaints about Vista, I never had a problem with mine). I have a newer Toshiba laptop today, but I remember 80% of the stuff from Vawmataw's long list of spoilers  :)

OK, so first their was DOS.
Then Apple released the Macintosh with the first publicly launched GUI, they called it 'Finder'.
So Microsoft launched Windows 1, which still relied on DOS for some tasks.
Later it released Windows 2, which looked a lot like Mac Finder, so Apple sued, and lost.
Next was Windows 3.
Then Microsoft launched NT 3.1, which was a new 32 bit platform that didn't rely on DOS. However, the system requirements were unrealistic for the majority of home users, also there was a lack of applications and drivers available for it.
Windows 95, 98 and 2000 (profesional) came and went.
Meanwhile Windows NT progressed to version 4.
For the Millennium, there was Windows ME, essentially an updated version of 98. It was slow, buggy and not especially stable, earning much criticism for many users, PC World raked it as the forth worst tech product ever.

25 October 2001 Windows XP is launched, based on NT, it was not universally liked at launch, but most users come round to it.

Windows vista came next, and most reporting that it wasn't as good as XP.
Windows 7, felt by many to be the best Windows yet.
Windows 8, some praised it's new direction, but most folks hated it. Many people upgraded from 8 to 7 and some from 8 to XP.
Windows 10, not universally loved, but better than 8, I know several folks who upgraded from 10 to 7 and 1 person who upgraded from 10 to XP.

According to some reports, Windows 7 is still the most widely used operating system on the planet, followed by XP.

Edit:- Spelling.
