heh, I searched around a bit. Apparantly a secound hand DeLorian cost €20 000, €30 000 without automatic transmission..

It's basically a modified Lotus Esprit frame and suspension, under a rust prone shell skinned in heavy, unrepairable outer panels. With a too heavy, under powered engine in the wrong place, behind the back wheels. Plus too much electrical demand on too low rated an alternator. Some versions could barely manage ninety mph.
A compromised car, with too little development.

Buy one today and there is a thriving internet community for them, most parts are available, and many of the flaws have well known fixes. Just don't expect much performance from an unmodified antismog engine.
Tuning parts are available, including turbo kits.


The exact number produced seems in dispute, but possibly 9170 between 1981 to 1983.
Plus a 'new' DMC12 can be built for you, from the ground up by DeLorean Motor Company out of Huston Texas. $57,500.00 standard or $76,496.25 fully loaded!
