Are there any smells you simply love for no discernible reason that you could just spend all day smelling?

I personally love the smells you get inside some CD-R/DVD-R spindles. Not all of them have them, but many do - buy a bunch of about 50 CD/DVD-Rs on a spindle, take off the lid and smell it (the lid) - lovely! Two brands that I've bought that have "the smell" are Verbatim DVD-Rs and WHSmith CD-Rs...

I also rather the smell of solder, and exploded capacitors.

Bacon.

Petrol (Diesel smells horrible however)

The Sea

A well read book (I have a one volume copy of the lord of the rings that must be about 30 years old now and has been read a huge number of times, unfortunately I've had to replace it because pages were falling out)  :'(

This, the carbon powder from burning resistors is also quite nice. LEDs on the other hand...

Agree on that, a nice warm summer rain!

A smell I personally find quite "interesting": New Hardware. But that goes hand in hand with an empty wallet ;)

Fresh garlic.  Pine resin.  Citrus.  Strawberries.

Or--an old book.  One that has passed possibly through many hands, and has finally reached me.

Oh yeah, I missed this out, probably semi-on-purpose because it's quite weird, but the smell of dried blood after a nose bleed.

But then I like the taste of blood as well (tse, my own at least, I've never tried anyone elses ::))
