What if growing a pair was actually possible?

http://majorityrights.com/index.php/weblog/comments/human_protandry_girls_who_turn_into_boys_revisited/

I followed the link but i haven't read that much of the article yet. Still, i loled at how you related this to what i said about growing a pair  ;D.

Honey, if I lived in the Dominican Republic and my parents thought I was a girl and raised me that way, wouldn't they be surprised when at the age of about 13 I actually grew not only a pair but a kickstand to go with 'em?  If you live in DR or Papua New Guinea or a few other places, there's a pretty good chance of that happening.

Reading this post i assume you are a boy  ???.

By ``kickstand´´ you mean penis, right  ???? I'm unfamiliar with this reference  ???.

Why in those countries specifically  ???? Are people more androgynous there  ???  ;D?

On topic: What if i grew an extra pair?  ;D

(Smiling) No, Seze Mune is a girl.  Seze is a boy, except in the movie where Seze is a female ikran.

Yes, kickstand is one of many euphemisms for penis.  You can now post in the "Today I learned..." thread! :D

Those countries are pools for protandrous genes.  Protandry is different from androgyny.  Protandry is apparent changing from one sex to the other whilst androgyny is showing characteristics of both sexes at the same time.

If you grew an extra pair, then you would have polyorchidism and would probably have to have your pants altered.  Then again, you might just have a large varicocele (varicose vein in the testicle) which is probably not much problem unless you want to have children.  My sense is you're way too young to worry about any of this!  ;D

There is a genotype almost like it: XXY. It's called Huntingtons syndrome.

On topic: What if me having a XYY genotype meant me being über-macho?  ;D

Off topic: XXY genotype is Klinefelter syndrome, "...the most common sex chromosome disorder in males and the second most common condition caused by the presence of extra chromosomes. The condition exists in roughly 1 out of every 650 males. One in every 500 males has an extra X chromosome but may not show symptoms.

Principal effects include hypogonadism and reduced fertility. A variety of other physical and behavioural differences and problems are common, though severity varies and many boys and men with the condition have few detectable symptoms."

On the other hand, an extra 'Y' chromosome would likely give you severe acne, learning difficulties and delayed speech and language abilities. But you'd have normal testosterone levels, so it's unlikely you'd be über-macho as a result of that. ;D

There is a known case of a guy having a XYYY genotype, but it had the opposite effect from what you might expect.

On topic:  What if parents could design their child's genotype?

;D

What if men knew that they could start the best, most enduring, nurturing and loving relationships that way?  And what if that was actually important to them?   :D

What if women were obsessed with football, fast cars, brief relationships and casual mating? And what if nothing other than personal gratification was actually important to them?
