Some forums seem to have more females than males. Of the forums I visit, http://www.cosplay.com/forum.php is probably the most female, and http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/ seems to be almost exclusively male.

I've never met a girl who said, "I want to be an astronaut!", or has had any interest in space.

really? well, now you have :D I love everything connected to the space ;D and I love math too :P

I've never met anyone who liked math :P

Today I saw in the newspaper that there arent that many women in the technic area, so the government organised a technic girls day. There also was a picture and I would be lying if I said those girls really thought it is interesting.

You have to be in the right places, at the right times, to meet them.

True, it just seems that math and science appeal more to men.

There are plenty of "men" who disparaged the values of science and mathematics, but it does require a certain mind set to enjoy the related subjects, and understand them thoroughly.

I am not an expert in Science in Mathematics, but I have a job where I am using related skills daily.  I would not say that I love it, but it gets easier with practice and after making peace with certain frustrations in order to overcome them and learn.

You can not force interest, it has to be there already.  However, it is very easy to force compliance and participation, positive or negative, you just have to surround a kid with peers who think something is stupid or cool, and over time they synchronize opinions to belong to the group, rather that express individuality for the sake of enlightenment.  Peer pressure effects many things.  I am betting that the teachers did not speak to the kids about their attitudes going into the event, as most teachers are not psychologists.

we don't have that :(

Sometimes an important change requires a person to be the first.  Maybe that could be you.

Tbh, the only person I ever met who loved math was a girl. But she also thought Zac Efron was cute, so her judgement can't be trusted.  ;)
