Sometimes I have problem during logging in to this forum - I get message "Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again and then try again".
Seems it happens when access forum anonymously, then hibernate my PC and next day, when trying log in, this problem occurs. When I log in again, all is ok, but this behaviour is annoying. Any way to overcome this?

Have you tried cleaning the cache and cookies of your browser? (Just asking to make sure, maybe already this is causing the problem)

Hmm ... this I did too (but in different context, not for try solve this problem) and it still occasionaly happened even after it.

I think, the hibernate thing could cause some session issue. Perhaps, Ctrl + F5 before log in to the forum could help.

I had the same problem many times.
I have many bookmarks to check each day (weather forecast from 4 different sources, local and global news, few forums). Often I open them all, check weather and close rest. Some times if I have more time I can read news and forums. It's simpler and easier to open them all, check weather and close rest than open only forecast pages.
If I spend too much time on news then try to log into forum, existing login fields doesn't work. Simply F5 or click on any link (ie. homepage with login fields or restricted area that ask for login) will give me fresh and fully working login form.

Below I attach technical info for different forum. IMHO our forum works the same way:
Forum track each guest that visit it. If guest check 3 newest threads then log in to write answer, logged user will see that visited posts are marked read (seen as a guest) while few older posts may be marked unread (not read last time, not read this time). To serve that function and not overload server memory, tracking data will be discard ca. hour after last page refresh. But programmers creates a bug while implementing that functionality. You cannot log in using old (expired) session data. You need to create new session by simple refreshing page.
Any errors in spelling, tact or fact are transmission errors.

Today it happened during "fresh" login - forum page not opened previously. So I opened new tab, entered forum address and during login session verification failed. Looks like browser used some cached session id or something like that. Not real problem, but still annoying.

I've just installed the lastest patch for SMF forum software that fixed various bugs. There was something mentioned with a login bug in SSI mode (that we don't use) but just to be on the safe side.  :)

I tweaked a couple of things in the session management and caching.   SSI may actually be needed at some point, but not right now.  ;)

I'm guessing SSI is not the same thing as SSL.

After a recent rebuild of my computer, where (among many other things) all my cookies got wiped out, I had to sign back into LN. It took a couple of tries, even with the right password. But, it seems better than in the past.

The SSI (Server Side Includes) is a function of the forum software that allows content linking in and out.  As other, more official websites start to reach maturity, we will be looking at things like Single Sign On (SSO) and possibly importing and exporting content from the forums to those other websites. It's all crystal ball stuff right now, but we want to be ready to support our end of the Avatar fan world.  -M.
