Since Friday there have been severe issues with the LearnNavi forum and website. The server is either very slow or completely unreachable. It seems like a DDoS attack or something like that...

I tried to mail Markì, but since the mail address also is hosted on the learnnavi.org domain, I'm not sure that it arrives ???

Just to note, it was slow for me on Thursday night, because I remember checking on my phone as well and it was slow on it too. I don't know if it was slow for anyone else, since I was where I had sometimes crappy internet connection.

There is a difference of 6 hours with us (UTC -5:00) and the western continental Europeans (UTC +1:00). So, when it happened, it was Friday in Europe.

I remember I had issues, so you're not alone.

He has an other e-mail, but I think it's a personal one, so I don't recommand it yet.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The network we use is taking a fairly large DDoS attack. It should ease up at some point. - According to/Confirmed by our administrator Toruk Makto.

Edit: Back to normal! Don't forget to give our Great Admin your offerings.

Glad to hear it and seeing everything is coming to work fine :). I just came back here one week ago and THAT started happening...

Note that this is just the IPv6 traffic graph, which is a really small portion of the traffic (like 0.5% or something). Presumably the attacker is using a botnet which uses both IPv4 and IPv6.

I know. That image was the only one that loaded for me at the moment I posted.
It is a sall portion, but there is interestingly a correlation between IPv6 and IPv4 activity.

Irayo ma Markì for fighting off the attackers! :D

Good to know that it's solved. You had me worried there for a bit...

It's totally cool to know that our Kelutral was stronger than that RDA attack. :D

Every time something like this happens, we learn more and refine our defenses.  Back on Jan 25th, we got a blast of about 200,000 connections to the main site over 45 minutes (maybe we got named in the press somewhere, I never figured out why). Server load topped out at 9% for that event.  Now that LEI is really starting to roll on bringing Avatar back to the public consciousness with a lot of emphasis on Na'vi, we are probably going to get a lot more visitors. We're very ready for this.

Ma Marki, was this attack aimed at amy particular part or aspect of our server?

It was actually against another server on the same network. We caught a lot of crap from it that caused Apache to stall a bunch of processes. It took me a little while to figure out how to deal with it.
