Kaltxì ma oeyä smuke ulte smukan  :) Irayori tinan fì'u  :)

How do you compare things in Na'vi?
Example: I like apples more than kiwi.

I tried looking in the dictionary, but I found nothing!  ??? Is there an infix for more, and less and stuff like that?

Irayo ma ayeylan.  :)

Tìtstewan

Kaltxì! :)

Comparison:
QuoteI like apples more than kiwi.
Oel ayäpllti to kiwiti nulnew. (Based on this construction: Oel X-ti to Y-ti nulnew.)
lit.: I prefer apples more than kiwi.

Comparison you make it by the help with the to adposition. :)

Irayo ma eylan!  :)

Do I add "ti" to the end of each word?

Example: Oel ayskoti to aysukruti.

Tìtstewan

Yes, if the verb is transitive, like nulnew is. :)

Right, as opposed to e.g. sunu where it would be:

Aysko to aysukru sunu oer.
"I like bows more than spears."

Hmm.. I think tsko and tukru should be singular:

Quote from: Karyu PawlTo make general statements about a group, keep the nouns in the singular:

  Nantangìl yom yerikit.
  'Viperwolves eat hexapedes.'

  Palulukan lu lehrrap.
  'Thanators are dangerous.'
Nìrangal frapo tsirvun pivlltxe nìNa'vi :D

You could be right :D

But let's not confuse tsmuktu alu SevinTanhi :P

~SevinTanhi~

Irayo ma ayeylan  :)

What does sunu mean? Does it mean the same as nulnew?

Tìtstewan

sunu = be pleasing, be likeable, bring enjoyment, like --> Aysko to aysukru sunu oer.
nulnew = prefer --> Oel ayskoti to aysukruti nulnew.

Kaltxì, ma  ~SevinTanhi~ and welcome to LearnNavi!

Make sure you pick up a copy of the dictionary, which is freely downloadable from a number of places here. Everything discussed here in terms of words is in there, and it is kept thoroughly up-to-date.

As far as the plural question goes, I think either singular or plural would work fine, depending on what you are trying to communicate. Where this could get confusing is related to something that really doesn't apply here, in that if you indicate a number of something in a single clause, you only need mention its number once, such as Swizaw amrr lu oeru 'I have five arrows'. There is no need to use Ayswizaw in this sentence as the number makes it perfectly clear there are a bunch of arrows. In general, Na'vi is less picky about plurals than, say, English.

Lu tsteu Lu txur ila ngal ayunil.
-->
Lu tstew sì txur ìlä ayunil ngeyä.
[Be brave and strong by your dream.]

Irayo ma smukan  :) I'll change that, does ìla mean follow?

Tìtstewan

#15
It means "via, by, according to, following"
kxamlä would work there too, instead ìlä, but I'm not really sure...(through / via the middle of the dream... :-\)

Lu tstew, lu txur ìlä ayunil ngeyä
"be brave, be strong through/by following your dreams"

is also fine.

Please be mindful of the accent (ì) and Umlaut (ä) :P It's funny, Sevin wrote ìlä without ä, Tìtstewan without ì ;)

I wouldn't use kxamlä here – to me, it's quite physical, through the middle of a physical place.
