I decided to try an Avatar videogame for myself, and I successfully got my friend to help me out with creation.
One of the components is that it could be part First Person Shooter and part Third Person Shooter. And if you don't wear the Exopack for a bit and you're exposed to the Pandoran atmosphere you'll die.

To´ji

and you play the human shooting what...animals and Na'vi on Pandora?
"Kawkrr! Krr slayu nga Na'viyä hapxì!"

swiräk

Wait, you want to do your OWN video game?

If so, In what language do you code? Or do you use an editor?

Btw, can u need help with the 3d models an levels, or something like this?

I would like to help you with this 3D stuff. if you want so

Wendell890

I use blender to make everything.
You can play as the Na'vi or the Humans.
My friend is helping me with the coding, but is there anyone who could help me with the UVing and Texturing?

swiräk

Oh great, i use also blender For my 3d stuff. And youre coding in python right?

Sounds interesting, please add me in msn([email protected]) or in skype(pharno_)

shiaru

Oh for the love of god don't say you use python, that is my nightmare, but interested in the program you use to make the game is it called blender ?

Blender is a 3d model and animate programm, that alows you to create your own models, to animate hem, texture them.

Blender has a game engine integratet, which you can basicly controll with logic bricks, but youll get the full functionality ,Only with pyhon.

Edit: btw, if you CAN python, its just great and powerfull

I have a friend working with me on the coding, and we're taking another opensourced game and modifying it to become more avatar-like.
And yes, we are using python (I think).

shiaru

Python made want to go crazy but i'll give a try again see if i can pick it up and help you guys, anything for a new avatar game. If anything I can always come up for ideas for the story or game mechanics, I think that the vision should be blurred when one has no exo-pack until one get tunnel vision then faints...

note: Other things can happen during this time like a matrix effect on the vision and it is harder to control the player IDK.

I have a suggestion: maybe you can add the navi language.
With a few levels, from no na'vi to only na'vi

Payoang

Hit me up for music if you're serious about it. I'd love to compose something for the project.

Maybe, when the porject gets seriously, you shoud open your own board, to talk about the grafic , the sound, suggestions, storyline and so on.

Edit: i will twitter about the game and its developement. Im pharno on twitter(oh, really?)

If you want a more powerful game engine you could consider using Unity, it uses a whole bunch of languages,(c#, Javascript, and a few others) its free(the pro version's not but i don't think the pro version's anything special.) it has support for blender, and Photoshop files. Its very nice, and fun to mess with.
I've used it a few times, just to try out the tutorials. It was rather fun, and easy, not to mention it could easily handle high res graphics.

My MSN is [email protected] if you have any questions.

(Because truthfully, i think they could have done better on the official Avatar game.)

One of you guys said something about using Na'vi the language. I was thinking if anyone here speaks it fluently, then we could use that for giving villagers voices.

MaTe

right... na'vi with English subtitles...
Where is my NDD fix?
some people juggle geese...

Um, no.
These would just be regular villagers minding their own business and having a nice chat.

I would love to give sounds but I don't think I hav the best pronounciation around ;p

I think you will get the full feeling for the game only with the na'vi language. And for those wo cant realy speak it(like me) make an option to tun it into english, or in a mix of low level na'vi and englisch.

And of course with the option to enable subtitles.

Thats what i meaned

No subtitles for the part that I was thinking of.
However, there most likely will have to be subtitles when you're hearing humans/na'vi/avatars talking in Na'vi.
Also, I'm no good at modeling humanoids.
WHO WANTS TO MAKE THE NA'VI?!
Irayo.

Taronyu Ayunilyä Alahe

make the Na'vi? like the design?
