Today, Ubisoft announced it is partnering with Lightstorm Entertainment and Fox Interactive to create a cutting-edge new game for PC and consoles set on Pandora, the beautiful and dangerous moon from James Cameron's Avatar film franchise. Massive Entertainment, a Ubisoft studio, is leading the game's development.

I'm so uber-hyped by this, more than I'd want to... because it will be either what I've always wished for or another total failure like the 1st game... full of bugs and crappy from beginning to the end. Or it will be what the trailer video is promising, a place where I can live virtually as a Na'vi and just do whatever ._.
#iwanttobelieve that this will not be another failure by Ubisoft! >_<

Me too! I've waited for an announcement like this for years.
And it's likely the game will have multiplayer, Massive Entertainment is currently looking for online programmers for this project:

All aboard the hype train!

I'm praying that this game is as good as the hype they're putting into it!  my hubby showed me the trailer for the game today and I basically squealed in excitement.   I'm worried that it'd have the hype that no man sky had and it would not turn out as well (though I did enjoy no man sky honestly)

The first game wasn't bad in my opinion, it was actually pretty fun with the customizable loadouts...
Seems like the new one will be on PC, but my PC is not powerful and the only 8th gen console I have is a Wii U.

I liked the first game (even though I am not done with it yet) although I heard someone mention the Na'vi (languagewise) wasn't on-point. Can't wait for a new game that's up to date!  ;D

BlueHusky2154

The Na'vi words in the first game make me cringe. That's my only problem with it.
Hopefully the new game is better.

I would actually consider building a Windows rig to play this. Just for this game. (If I see that it's that good)

We'll just pretend that other game didn't happen.

Hah! so this.

Read it on Reddit a couple of hours ago, wasn't able to see whether or not someone posted here about this already.
I'm anxiously getting hyped for this, hoping that the developers have seen the flaws of the previous game, and as always curiously awaiting the (if any) involvement of awngeyä karyu Pawl.

With the current VR technology, I'm wondering if the conversation I had on TS several years ago is becoming more and more real. Becoming dreamwalkers ourselves.

Well, that sounds good. Original Avatar game was quite good (well, many thing could be better, but still...), but why not to create much better game? I hope my machine will be appropriate to play it :)

Hrh, I currently bought, installed and am playing the original Avatar game for PC, Though I have a powerful system, it doesn't run as smooth as the same game on 360. The Wii game was a complete nightmare as far as actual gameplay goes, but we all know Wii  Tech started rough. I really hope this new game at least is like Elder Scrolls online if they take it to MMORPG, but my preference would be closer to something like an original Elder Scrolls game (Not just Skyrim), and be a straight sit down and Role-play style immersive environment. for VR or Augmented Reality, well, I will straight out go and buy a new system just to be on Pandora and be a Na'vi or Avatar, or even RDA (psshh yeah right). I need conversational quests. In an Alternate Universe Bethesda and Zenimax are making this game a reality right now and I cant have it :P I grew up emotionally bonding with video game characters from shooters like Halo's Master Chief, I don't need another single character to idolize and live through though. 1st Person experience all the way though!

Would like to see a huge open world design that's more in line with "wild" not looking for a RDA verses Na'vi conflict like the original game.

With todays hyper powerful hardware like Xbox scoripo , or the ps4 pro or modern Pc systems (huge cost issues here) capable of delivering and rendering complex simulated world environments at a core realism level not possible before,, as well as much more mature VR hardware it would be nice to see where they could go with that experience as well ..
But honestly one would hope the developers would take into consideration the importance of the interconnected "feel" and examples of the world of Pandora and make effort to much better weave them into the story as well theres a lot more to a game then graphics alone,, maybe taking into account the story content of Toruk first flight ,,and the trials the young na'vi went through weaving in community roots and friendship bonds as well as examples of the heart and spirit of this story... I am reminded of the deep examples of older game called Ultima 4 "Quest of the Avatar ,, by origin systems and its critically acclaimed virtue engine as a great example for all to take a look at ..  examples of this "structure" below noted.. incorporation of this structure into a game weaves a much deeper meaning into the "role" one takes as one as held core accountable for ones actions by the community as a whole ,,just remember these principles would woven into and have to fit into the Ethos of the James Cameron's Avatar universe . ones actions would now impact the "community as a whole" and are reflected back into how one is seen either bulding circles of trust and respect, or conquences for ones actions among the game world community .. few games today are able implement this but I feel its very important for an "authentic" World of Avatar experience in this world on many levels..

i was wondering if they are trying to release the game before the sequels or during the sequels, to keep interest high in between 2,3,4, and 5. is there any new on this game lately?

Look here: http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/05/16/ubisoft-clarifies-avatar-game-release-window-plans

Quotea representative for Ubisoft confirmed that there are no plans to release the game well ahead of Avatar 2's December 18, 2020 release date. According to Ubisoft, the new Avatar game "won't be released before FY21," or fiscal year 2021. For Ubisoft's financial calendar, that means the Avatar game will not be debuted before April 1, 2020.
Game are planned to release around Av2 release +/- few months.

Ma TEA, look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrAD-2oAul8?a&b
Snowdrop engine is the software that Ubisoft actually using. Free demos that use this engine should be available. New game (let's name it Av2 game) will be released after 3 years. That game should have bigger demands because of different environment (forest = huge visible area and a lot of objects) but shouldn't double the demands.
IMHO if You have single GPU and system allows You to play games based on that engine, You will be able to play Av2 game after adding second GPU (bridged) and maybe more RAM.

Yeah, that's bad. :(

Knowing what the situation is about you should either ask for permission or wait until that permission is granted to you. In the latter case, you still have many, many pictures of Pandora on the Internet as well as the forums of the Avatar community.

Interesting. Have you tried installing the original Avatar game on your PC? It's not too demanding. It ran butter-smooth 60FPS on my old setup of a Core i3-6100 and GTX 750 2GB.
