After looking around the web for game engines (ideas for my own) i came across these images:

Intresting... hopfully it will be better than the game -_-

Those are from the online McDonald's "game" - http://avatar.mcdonalds.com/PandoraRovr/ .

Highly unlikely to be anything relating to an MMO.

The game engine that is used is an mmo engine.

Would be nice if it was online :(

And? Even when doing something as small and simple as the Pandora ROVR, it would make sense to use a pre-built engine.

Do you think that McDonald's have partnered up with some as-yet-unknown developer to create an online MMO, of which they've sneakily put a tech demo on their site as a general promotional tool but are in fact going to release a full game in the near future?

Seems a little bit unlikely to me.

What is slightly encouraging is that someone other than Ubisoft has been allowed to produce an online experience that could be argued to be a game.

So it's possible Ubi only have a restricted license for games, and there's a chance of something appearing. But I wouldn't expect an MMO until after the 2nd film at the earliest.

Yea, game devs usually make an MMO from a film once it releases it full trilogy set ( such as Matrix Online, LOTR Online, Star Wars Galaxies, and now we've got Star Trek online o.0 ). So will possibly see an Avatar MMO after the trilogy finishes.

It would likely be more economical for them to release it earlier.  More publicity due to the shock of avatar.. if they release it just before ava2 it will be a huge BOOM like the kxangangang!!! heh... anyways, they'll need dedicated servers because of that, kinda like us!!!  Maybe there will be tons of games, made by people like Ubisoft, Atari, and others.  We can only hope for a good MMO...

I hear the words 'dedicated servers' lots of times, but i still dont know what it means?

And Atari is a good one!

a server is something you need to connect to a site.  its a computer that stores its information.  a dedicated server is a server that works for one site only, giiving more memory for that one site.  understand now?  I also like the Atari one.

An MMO for Avatar is going to come sometime for sure.
When?
Years I'm betting.. JC said he was aiming for around 3 movies to start with so after that when we have much more lore to deal with and create a decent game world I'm betting.

Let's just hope that they get the same freedom like the crew boiling up Pirates of the Caribean now. They got enough freedom to make it unrealted yet got enough references to the movies to make it related. I know it sounds confusing at first but the more you think about it the more you will see that it's the way to success. You need some freedom so people can find themselfs somewhere within the MMO and have fun playing it. Yet you need the references or people like me won't touch it :P

Seriously now. Cameron provides a whole freaking universe and Ubisoft just scratched a little at the surface. There is much more to the theme than what there is. I would kill to be part of the creative development team.

I am not sure if you guys are saying that UbiSoft should make an Avatar game or not, but personally I love UbiSoft and Cyan.  One of my dream jobs is actually to work with Cyan, the creators of MYST and the related books and games.  I like their style and think that if they could get an RPG going, we should all get it and join in!

Eywa sìltsan

We are not saying that UbiSoft should make an Avatar game. They already did and in my opinion they messed it up big time if you compare it with the movie. If you look at it as "just another game" it's actually nice. If you consider that they had the original sources they made very little of it though. I don't want them to make another Avatar game.
If there will be another Avatar game, MMO or not, it should be made by more capable hands.

I think that this game is just something they put together as fast as possible, 'cause every big movie needs a game.

If we are to see any more games, they will probably be better, since there not put together "just to have a game".

And as said, to make a game fully based on a movies story is a straight fail. Let's just say that games and movies doesn't have that compatible stories. Avatar have a very good base concept to build a story on however, and there is plenty of things they're able to explain/show better.
