Ok so honestly I try to not be over-emotional and to respect people's opinions... I really do...

But I just get so mad with all the "It's cool to be a hater" pa'lishit that NEVER ENDS. I'm just minding my own business trying to find info on pre-ordering tickets for the re-release of AVATAR and all I come across is pages and pages of people being txìmheads about the movie. I mean really, these people have to take the time to mention how much they didn't really like the movie? The only reason I can see for this is that they get some sort of social acceptance from it, which is frankly just sad.

I don't mind people being pesimistic BEFORE they've seen a movie, but it's these people that actually paid to go see AVATAR (sometimes more than once!) and now they have to make everyone listen to their complaints.

Sorry, but with the ammount of information available online today, you should never have to go see a movie and leave disappointed. I learned EVERYTHING there was to know online about the movie before I went and saw it, ensuring I knew before I went that I would love it. And guess what, I wasn't disappointed.

Which leads me to believe all these people fall under two categories:
1) "It's cool to hate"
2) they only went and saw it cause everyone else was and now they're sore they spent their money.

But it's these "Cool to hate" people that really get on my nerves. They find it entertaining to make it socially acceptable to hate on a movie just because it's popular. It's this bandwagon mentality, nobody thinking for themselves. What does it say for society if this is how people socialize now? not by finding common interests but by finding common DISINTRESTS. Seriously, were there gangs of people standing around gossiping about how disappointing Shakespeare's latest plays were? Why don't I hear anyone going "Yeah Titanic had such a predictable storyline".

I would just avoid them to save myself the hassle but they're EVERYWHERE. They crawl into ever comment thread and blog. I can't even talk to someone about the movie without hearing all the same stuff over and over again.

It's like I need a shirt that says on the front:
- I like AVATAR!
and on the back it says:
- I already know you liked the visuals but hated the story.
- I already know you think it's Dances with Wolves in Space.
- I already know you think anything blue is a smurf.
- I already know you think James Cameron is rich.
- I already know you think 3D is a fad.
- I already know you are a movie critic and purist.
- I already know you think Titanic was better.
- SO PLEASE DON'T BOTHER MENTIONING IT!

Seriously, if Payoeng (seabass) made a T-Shirt like that I would buy it and take a picture of myself in public wearing it!

Other things bandwagon haters like to target:

Twilight
Anime remakes (dragonball z, Last Airbender)

If there's nothing you love, nothing can be used against you.  If there's nothing you're passionate about, you can't be trolled.1

Really, the current zeitgeist is to be suspicious of genuine, un-ironic enthusiasm about anything.  I have no idea what the deep roots of that are, though.  Mocking people for being different is easy enough to understand.  This hostility to any deep enthusiasm is more puzzling to me.  Until we can really figure out the cause, it seems best to just take a few breaths and move on.

1By which I mean real trolling — saying things not because they mean anything you believe, but only to get a rise out of people.  That's why trolling is so contemptible — it uses what people care about against them.

The only thing that I tend to dislike is Twilight... but only because of the look it gives the almighty Vampire.  But I don't go ranting about it!

I would wear that shirt as well, ma tsmukan...

I do agree with the people who think the plot is awful - I mean, seriously, it would have made a lot more sense if the bits from the 2007 script were left in. But despite this, it still gets the message across in an amazing way, which is why I like it.

I've never read it or seen it, I just dislike it. 'Cause it sounds really stupid. ;D HP beats Twilight any day.

AVATAR beats both of them.

People say to me, "You are obsessed with Avatar." Well, what alerted you to that fact? Was it my poster? My 15 milion pictures? TELL ME SOMETHING I DON'T KNOW! And then they give you that little look. We all know the one.  >:(

I get THE LOOK when I tell people stuff in Na'vi. Then I get stuff like "it's only a movie," and "why don't you learn a real language?"
