ok... pre-recorded acceptance speech from Neytiri would be more hilarious than anything JC can possibly say if Avatar wins Best Picture.
She should say "I'm Queen of the World!" :D
2022 update: Working on the new astrology book. "How to read tarot" books are on Amazon, if you are into that sort of thing.
Okay, so the old podcast is here: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/radioavatar It was goofy fun that ended too soon, but we had creative people. I hope we can get a new gang together (interested? PM me, let's make some magic!)
(Very old, outdated) Na'vi FUN activity book is here: But what are you doing? Let me know! :)

Nah that's too predictable, it should be more like "SUX MUH QUEUE BIATCHEZ!".

I hope weta are allowed to do something special for when they win Best Visual Effects.  Given it's almost a certainty - it would be very cool if they could (in advance) digitally compose Neytiri and/or Jake onto the stage with them during the ceremony.

See, though the character he plays is the antagonist, I really think that Giovanni Ribisi, AKA Selfridge, deserves at least some sort of recognition for his role.  From an interview I've heard, his characters are typically of "kind" nature, and to play a money-loving douche was out of his usual roles, and he did it convincingly.

Maybe not Oscar worthy, but well done nonetheless.

Yes, I too thought he did an EXCELLENT job, but not Oscar worthy. Sigorney and Zoe completely stole the show in a movie filled with great performances.

... you know what, we might as well say that all the main actors dod a great job.  And yes, Zoe and Sigourney deserve and Oscar.

... I just think it's funny that no one's said anything about Sam Worthington.  But compared to Zoe, he's overshadowed for sure.

I think he did a fine job with his role. Even well above average. Just not great. That's just my opinion though.

Well, it's kind of hard when you have a heavy Australian accent, and you want to be able to impersonate a heavy Brooklyn accent.  Plus he, more than anyone, needed to be able to act as a "human" and a "Na'vi," so that's what I'd judge it on.

But I agree: his acting in Avatar is no where near Zoe.

The only person I would put above Sam in terms of being able to hide an accent it would definitely be Hugh Laury aka House.

Ok, maybe not, but I love it, and agree.

I love house, he's a real pain in the txìm, , he's clever, dedicated, insightful etc...
Ever seen Jeeves and Wooster? Hugh Laury is as different to House as it gets!

I can't think of a single performance that wasn't excellent, Eytukan, Max, Moat, Norm, Quaritch, Selfridge, Trudy, Tsu'tey, etc...
In many movies Sam's Jake would have stood out as being outstanding, but among the other performances it seems to blend in.
For me only Saldana's Neytiri managed to really stand out, but I'll admit Sigourney Weaver's Augustine runs it a very respectable close second.
I'd have given leading fem to Saldana for Neytiri, and at least nominated Sigourney Weaver as supporting fem, and I'd have felt guilty for not recognizing all of the cast mentioned above.

Totally agree, however a lot of award *companies* assumed that Avatar was just animation. They should be punished for ignorance. James Cameron has tried to get across that it isn't animation with quotes like 'I'm a director, not an animator, I like working with actors.' and the various behind the scenes clips proving the stunning acting required for the film. It's a shame really, not enough talent is being recognised.

Has anyone heard about this?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100303/en_nm/us_hurtlocker_lawsuit

And this?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100303/ap_en_mo/us_oscars_hurt_locker_violation

Is it wrong for me to hope that these incidents will backfire on The Hurt Locker's Oscar chances, thus clearing the way for a certain movie we all like to do even better than predicted?

That is just... cheap. Cameron has been so humble about this whole thing and the producer for Hurt Locker goes and does something like that. Wow.

Hey, the HL producer felt threatened, so he tried bribing.  Super fail on his part.

Well, that just makes the decision for who gets the Oscars that much more clear.
