LOTR had combined 3 billion $ for the 3 movies (LOTR isn't a triogy , according to JRRT) , if I'm wrong , please someone, do correct me.

Originally it wasn't supposed to be a trilogy but it was just to massively long for one book so he split it into three.

Well, it was more rather split by the publishing company then it was by JRRT, he never claimed it's a trilogy.

Ok back on track, congrats again to Avatar for the milestone, now need to pass the 2 billion mark

. Hopefull I'd got also on this weekend to the IMAX to watch it and contribute for this milestone

I think that if showing continues strong, and with the lack of decent movies coming out, Avatar could break 2 billion in movie sales. As far as DVD's go, yeah, thats gonna be one of those "we stocked 300 this morning. Sorry their all gone. At noon." stories.

I think FOX won't have to wait for DVD sales to hit 2 billion... I mean, it's "just" 150 million left and it's still in cinemas all over the world. My two cents.

At noon? Sorry mate, but 300 dvd`s ... If it takes 1 minute to buy one..omg what i`am talkin about, you have an angry mob behid you - 30 secs to take you copy and run for your life. 60 minutes in 1 hour = 120 dvd`s sold. So 300 dvds would be gone by 10:30

(Also you can get one only if you camp the door the whole night)

I read this in a Reuters article (writing about Avatar becoming the highest grossing movie of all time.) I though it was a bit funny:

"More than five years in the making, it was reportedly one of the most expensive films with a budget of at least $300 million, due partly to its high-tech special effects and the creation of a new language used by the extra-terrestrial Na'vi race."

Makes me wonder about Frommer's salary demands?

I don't know, I imagine a huge number of linguists dream of getting paid to develop their own constructed language. And, of course, there's a huge number of linguists who dream of getting paid period.
