Fans of Avatar, the record-breaking blockbuster film, are being promised a "blue" alien sex scene when the film comes out on DVD.

The sex scene was cut from the cinema version of James Cameron's 3D sci-fi adventure which is close to taking $1 billion (£621m) at the worldwide box office.

It features the giant blue avatar of paraplegic US Marine Jake Sully locking hair with his love interest, Neytiri.

Cameron said: "We had it in [the movie] and we cut it out so that will be something for the special edition DVD – if you want to see how they have sex."

Actress Zoe Saldana, who plays Neytiri, said the sex involves the same process the alien race uses to communicate on its fictional home planet.

In the film, communication takes place by locking hair with flora and fauna, in a process known as "synching."

Saldana said: "If you sync to your banshee and you're syncing to a tree, why not sync into a person?

"It was a very funny scene to shoot because there were so many technical things that sometimes you have to keep in mind that paying attention to all those might disrupt the fluidity of how a scene is supposed to take place."

The actress said the scene was left out originally because the film was aimed at a family audience.

Pretty smart move, huh? Cameron clearly is aiming at the 2$ billion mark!

It's cool, 'cause I remember seeing the movie the first time, wondering why they didn't make the neural connection during the love-scene. Also, is there anyone who is reminded of Mass Effect and the way the Asari connect mentally to their partner in some eerie, telepathic manner? It's a similar idea with the tsaheylu.

Yea, it seems quite the same as mass effect the same way of the ''perfect orgasm'' as they claim.
Ultimate connection and all that.
Though I bet for Avatar it will simply be connecting of the hair ends and that will be the ''sex scene''  ;)

I've read the script for the sex scene and I thought it was beautiful, it will add a new layer of depth to the movie.

The answer is srane. I thought about it too. Maybe it's something with blue chicks and wanted to get to know your brain.

I only found it awkward in that all the families around me were diving to cover their children's eyes.

So I sat and giggled instead of reveling in the amazingness of the scene.
Avatar is a movie about a guy with blue balls running through the forest chasing tail.

I'll surely buy the special edition.... and i hope i get it on bluray.... itll be interesting to see aliens having sex... (cuz its never hapnd b4 ppl....)

Nawma 'eveng

I already felt the awkward atmosphere when I watched the movie with a bunch of toddlers in the cinema... :-\ I mean the kid on my left is like covering his face with popcorn  ::)

Swok Txon

LOL yeah i felt how awkward that moment was as i had many toddlers around me but i said

"Fear not young children of yester year! for now is the time to embrace your true calling!"

"Sex.."

*in chorus*

"Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!"

lol no that didn't actually happen but i did feel rather joyful at their discomfort...talk about sadistic  ;D

I never understand why parents would basically have their kids learn that sex is gross when its not. Well normal sex isn't anyway.

Yeah, no wonder so many people become neurotic.

My friend was making a comment that he did see any kind of neeple slip, I think those are great news, I'd better go tell him , and tell myself as well.  :D

Still hot.  Anything, given the proper mood and interest, can be sex.  As a fan of intimacy and giant cat-people, I'm totally supplying the interest on this.

(I just realized how strange I sound.  Hopefully my snuggie will make me feel better)

I think that the after sex dialogue that they didnt show in the movie is by far more important. Yes its interesting to see them bonding but...

Was there such a dialogue in the origina script ? Will it be included i the extended edition ?

Muntxa

I've also read the script and the dialogue the "morning after" (or was it after "it"?) is beautiful, exactly how I imagined it. I've written a lemon weeks ago and there was the same dialogue, of course with different words, but it was the same topic and what Neytiri said. lol
Read it if you haven't! Or wait for the DVD.
