How long is it staying in RealD 3D theatres? :O

Also leaving at the same time. When Skxawng and I saw it in IMAX in NYC and the trailer for Alice in Wonderland came up I almost booed.

Anyway, I guess it had to happen sooner or later. I'll just pretend that this means we're getting closer to Avatar 2 :)

That's exactly how I view it. There are a few things that have to happen before we get real info on the sequel and one of them is that the first has to leave theaters!! (And I grudgingly admit that I'm looking forward to Alice)

Yeah, it seems it's leaving in every way (3D, 2D, so on) on the same day.

I was looking forward to Alice, but I'm going to go see that last available showing of avatar in IMAX (ever  :-[ :( :'( ) and as I walk out and see the people going in to see Alice, I intend on booing them.

I bumped into the IMAX manager last night at my most recent showing and asked him when it was closing, I had previously thought it was Wednesday (so they would have all of Thursday to switch all the reels to Alice) but he said he's received marching orders from Fox to keep it on the screen as long as possible - so that means he'll be taking it off the platters after the final 10.40pm showing on Thursday night, then working all night to get ready for the opening of Alice on Friday.

I'm sure Fox are peeved about having to have their film removed - Alice apparently only has a four week showing time (at the moment, it will depend on how successful the film is) so maybe they'll be able to squeeze a week of Avatar in before Dragon opens.

Agreed! I'm sooo glad to hear that though, that Fox is actually DOING something about Avatars success!

The IMAX theater by me (Atlantic City, NJ) is ending Avatar on the 28th of February so Wild Ocean 3D can get some time in before Alice in Wonderland. I only have one day left to see it  :'(.

(It was actually extended due to popular demand. http://www.tropicana.net/imaxtheater/index.htm
My uncle's dog came over a little less than one week ago. I stupidly left the computer plug on the floor. That night, his dog chewed it up. So, the next morning, I go looking for the plug and I find a chewed up piece of metal. I sadly cannot purchase a new plug right now, and my computer's battery is out. I'm at my public library.

Also, I discovered this promising "small business" film company called Mirror Entertainment. It looks really promising: http://www.mirrorente

I wonder if it'll apply to all the IMAX theaters, would be nice.
If they decide to squeeze an additional week after Alice, there should be some massive advertizing to attract people to see it again.

That's for sure. I know I'd go and see it.

"'Alice' vs. 'Avatar'

You'd think that theater owners prosperous enough to have IMAX and 3-D screens in their movie houses would be delighted with the upcoming March 5 opening of Alice in Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp and directed by Tim Burton.
Not so, according to a report I heard the other day on National Public Radio.
James Cameron's Avatar is still doing so well that the nation's cinema impresarios are reluctant to turn over screen time, even for such a high-profile and no doubt profitable alternative. But in the end, they won't have much choice: Most theater owners would have committed to a big Disney release like this long ago in binding distribution contracts.
Or, off with their heads!"

I am *8publishing** Alice in Wonderland, so you know I love the story. That said, I think the Disney movie  going to suck.

The trailer makes me think this is an "Alice in Wonderland 2" (some kind of sequel written by corporate hacks) and being billed as the original story. I love Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare..., and all things Elfman/Depp/Burton (except for "Big Fish,") but I seriously have doubts about this. It looks like "The Corpse Bride" all over again. Jaw-dropping visuals (dead skeleton hotties in wedding gowns are hard to resist) but the story was so bad I could not watch it more than once, no matter how much I wanted a cartoon dead girlfriend all my own.

I think Alice will EASILY do $200 million. I also think it will tank in IMAX after a few weekends. But Iron Man is coming so fast that no one will remember.

Lol. I love all things Tim Burton almost as much as I love Camerons movies. Almost.

I will totally be part of that 200 mill!

Tell the theater owners that they got learnnavi.org permission to to take their word back :).

Well, let's hope they can bring it back when there are ANY gaps in scheduling.

I went for my 7th viewing tonight, and the show was completely sold out. So stick that in your juice box and suck it Alice.  ::)
