I didn't have a chance to see it by me  :'(. I think I'm going to need much therapy to get over this  :'(
My uncle's dog came over a little less than one week ago. I stupidly left the computer plug on the floor. That night, his dog chewed it up. So, the next morning, I go looking for the plug and I find a chewed up piece of metal. I sadly cannot purchase a new plug right now, and my computer's battery is out. I'm at my public library.

Also, I discovered this promising "small business" film company called Mirror Entertainment. It looks really promising: http://www.mirrorente

Well, let's hope they can bring it back when there are ANY gaps in scheduling.

I went for my 7th viewing tonight, and the show was completely sold out. So stick that in your juice box and suck it Alice.  ::)

Wow, where was this? Is it still regularly selling out on weekends?

It still sells out in both Derry and Hooksett NH

Booked for one last time in IMAX 3d on Thursday 4th :S

But... potentially good news developing from the rumor mills.  Apparently Fox might be planning a re-release in 3D later this year:

Now you mention it, that sounds like an awesome idea, would no doubt attract people back for miles. However maybe it's something James Cameron wants on the DVD/Bluray only :(

Irayo.
That can be great, the ability to watch it again in 3D, because doesn't seem like I'd be able to do that, at least not for the next several years (unless some friend will have a 3D option at his house :p).

Technowraith

Irayo for the stories. There's still a chance that i will see avatar in the re-release, even if i have the DVD by then. ^.^

I've bee keepong an eye out for pre-order status on the DVD and so far haven't had any luck at amazon (the only place i know so far that has it). If anyone has leads on additional dvd pre-order sites, let me know.  ;)
See that shadow? It's the last one you're gonna see.

It's weird isn't it? I a world driven by money, their going to pass up on some. Sure Alice will do better than Avatar would have for a week, maybe 2. But nothing more.

Thats why they are considering re-releasing in cinema, Fox are fighting for Avatar, but no doubt most of the major cinema companies (Odeon, View, etc) signed a contract allowing them to show Alice in Wonderland for so many weeks. Maybe Fox will renew their contracts when Alice has stopped.

Exactly, but Alice in Wackoland(to quote a member of these forums), is a "higher priority" film, whatever that means in movie-speak.

I'm personally going to wait for the extended cut to come out. Cameron says they'll be adding about 15 minutes worth of footage, which will bring it up to about 3 hours in length.

I can tell you exactly what this means: Studios are not thinking in the gross a single movie makes, but only that the total gross increases with every year. Now a big grossing movie like Avatar actually means danger to a studio not having another expected to-be-blockbuster in the row for the next year, because this would mean, they's make less money then the year before, which by the crazy rules of the finance business is called a LOSS. From this POV the early pull of a movie from cinemas makes sense.

This also leads to decisions like the one of Time-Warner to postpone "Harry Potter 6" by a year, because "The Dark Knight" already gained a WIN. The film was completely finished, some cinemas even already had recieved the reels.

i will never understand Showbiz lol. my local theater took out avatar last month >.< i only got to see it once. i was so mad.

Alice has a 4 week contract. After that, there is another month before "How to train your Dragon" comes out in Imax. If Alice tanks, then that month is open. Possibly for a quick Avatar reshowing? I hope so  ::)

I would definitly go for a several more shows (perhaps 4 to make my "tote" an even 10?) if it was re-released. and I bet a lot of people that didn't have an opertunity to go see it, would find the time. (for those reasons, plus I'm DIEING to see this bonus footage ;))

Alice tanks...

The funny(?) thing with Alice is, that it's not even real 3D. It was filmed with ordinary 2D cameras and the 3D later created manually by artists, scene by scene.

IMHO In the trailer the 3D was far to crass and a lot of scenes were "Oh look here at this sweetcandy 3D effect of the cat appearing inches before your nose." Alas, I will have a look at Alice, just to be fair. Yes I'm prejudiced about it, any maybe you'll hear different from me friday night, But I think it's very unlikely.

Clash of the titans is the same thing, JC criticises this type of 'post production 3d' here. JC is da man.

Thanks to Will for letting me know about this.  I went with some friends (and my mom, yay!) to see it last night in IMAX.  The reel needs to be replaced as there was a lot of dust "noise" in the film and a few points where the feed my left eye sees went completely blank (and one point where the whole screen went black for a heartbeat!) so maybe it's not a bad idea that they're getting it out of IMAX now (at least for a bit).

This was my third viewing, and my first since I found learnnavi.org.  Despite the fact that I didn't think I had actually managed to learn any Na'vi yet (life has interfered!) I was surprised at how many words I caught during the movie.  Of course, I was specifically listening but I understood a lot of the subtitled bits better than I thought I would.  I also tried to make a point of looking at more of the stuff in the background but I kept getting sucked back into the main story, lol!

Sadly, I probably won't get to see it again until it comes out on video as I've run out of new people to drag to the theatre with me and I think I can only convince my fiance to go so many times. ;)
