After dozens of years in the moving making business, Cameron not only is the only director who has two movies that grossed over $1,000,000,000 (Titanic & Avatar), he now holds the top grossing movie of all time (Avatar); on Jan 3 a report came in that said that the worldwide gross revenue is $1,025,000,000.

I (and possibly the entire Avatar fan base) thank you for making one of the most beloved movies of all time.

Revision: I made a mistake, Titanic is the #1 movie. But w/ a week or two left and people saying they'll see it more than 3 times, it'll surpass Titanic

Actually Titanic is grossed at 1.8 billion. So Avatar still has some ways to go, but its great news that in 3 weekends Avatar has already made 1 billion in world wide gross. Things will slow down, most likely take another month or two to get past 1.8 billion.

It can only get better. Lets just hope we don't have 3 prequels in the future. You know who I'm looking at...*cough* pod racing sucks *cough*

Hawnuyu atìtse'a

Hell yes! Cameron will need to push sequels, not prequels. I am sure I'll be watching them way more than 3 times each.

With the numbers like this in, I am sure he is thinking about starting to film the first sequel at this very moment.
Is this right? I just write whatever in the signature box?

Oh man I can't wait to see what the next arc is about. I just hope the Aliens verse doesn't pop up anymore then it has already.

Na'vi vs. Aliens? That would complely suck.

Yeah. The na'vi would win too easily. I don't want to pay $11.50 for a five minute film.

Na'vi are the original Predators. Oh and to stay on topic, Yay James has money to do more Avatar!

Hawnuyu atìtse'a

More than enough. Out of $300 million, I'll bet a good chunk was just making the capture stuff and cameras. And this time we won't have to wait four years.

Eeee...I worry a bit. Prequels, sequels--anything with -quels doesn't tend to be all that great. Yes, I'm looking at you, Pirates of the Carribean.

But then, unlike George Lucas and the clowns that directed the last two pirate movies, James Cameron has proven to be very responsible with his creative freedom and oodles of money to makes movies...

Hey I hated the first Pirates and loved the other two. And plus the second Alien movie was good.

I don't know. Dead mans chest holds the #3 high gross spot. Not for long (avatar is $3 mil away) but it'll be in fourth place anyway. That's pretty good, like it or not.

That's pretty damn awesome is what you mean.

Successful movie does not necessarily  mean 'good'.

Duly noted. Pirates 3 was an abomination.

Its already at $1,063,151,759 as of Jan 4th according to boxofficemojo, so I guess Pirates bye-bye.

Taking into thought it will be in theatres until March at least + the DVD / Blu-Ray sales I say Titanic is very much within reach.
