Favourite scene?

Top favorite scene of mine was mentioned: the mating scene. After that, probably the very last scene when Jake is permanently transferred to his Avatar body.

After yet another viewing of the movie, I would say it would have to be the scene with the atokirina' floating all around Jake during that first meeting with Neytiri. It was very beautiful and surreal.

for me the thing that really hit me hardest was when Jake returns to his human body, after being with Neytiri that first time.
He says to himself "What the hell are you doing, Sully?".

It just brought the whole joy of the scene crashing down to reality so hard I felt it.
I think last time I watched that bit, I physically flinched in sympathy.

My favourite one is when Jake is talking to the videolog, saying that the days seem all the same, and we can see them smelling the ground and drinking water from the rain. It's also raining, and as in the movie almost never is raining, I loved the colors, the grey...
Also like when, after the kelutral being destroyed, Jake's avatar is turned off (i don't if it's the correct word), and when he waked up again in the avatar, everything around him is grey.
Finally, the 3rd, is when he fights with the viperwolves.

Final battle against Quartich has got to be one of my favorite scenes.

Quaritch: "Hey Sully, how's it feel to betray your own race?"
Sully: "HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"

Never fails to make me smile. That's a "Your going to die, you son-of-a-*****, and I'm going to be the one to do it" sort of a hiss, with added undertones of "It feels freakin' fantastic" as well.

I can't wait to see the rerelease, I have a STRONG feelign the scene with Neytiri and the fan-lizards will be a new top favorite for me ^.^

It's my honest opinion of what happened there. The human equivalent would be giving him the middle finger and just screaming "Bite me, you fu**ing nut-case!"

Agreed. But a hiss can mean so many things! And Eana Taw atsawl nailed it with his first explanation.

As for the colors, I'm absolutely thrilled that JC decided to use more colors than just orange and teal, which seems to be a quality fewer and fewer movies have these days...

I hope it's OK still posting here - for me it's taking first steps in the english part of the forum ...

For a very long time I thought Neytiris "I see you" when Jake shows up with toruk is my favourite scene. I can feel her thinking through all her experiences and knowings about Jake. And then her "seeing" him is totally changed - and she wonders how she has "seen" him so wrong until then.

But now I'm convinced that a detail of the final scene - nominated as a whole a few times in this thread - is my favourite: Neytiri sealing the eyes of Jake's human body with kisses. That quite huge Na'vi head above the tiny human one, but those lips so gentle, the whole movement so very respectful, lovingly, accepting the (soon ending) human existence of him.

May I put some overall statements at the end of this post?
First, every time I see the movie there is a strong feeling that the movie is hurrying (despite the time consumed) through the story in an awful rush.
Second: Best scene of the movie? What movie? Shouldn't it be: Intro - Title - Movie - Credits? But we have a (lenghty) intro, and then the title immediately followed by the credits, but the movie is gone ...?!

That would be the expected order, but apparently, Cameron wanted it to be Intro - Movie - Title - Credits. I do not know quite why he chose that...
