I actually preferred the 2d, for the record. The colors are not as muted, and while the 3D was more immersive, 2d allowed me to enjoy the beauty of it all more.

I feel the same way.  Just could not get past how dull the colors were... The 3D was quite well done though.  I'm tempted to go see it again with one of the other 3D formats.

In any case ... I've seen it three times so far and going for a fourth this weekend :P

The 3D version does typically have muted colors because the glasses themselves have a tint to them, its the polarization. IMAX 3D screens typically are silver screen, so it reflects light to the highest potential. Going on my 5th IMAX 3D adventure tomorrow!

I have seen it once but that was a week ago. I have been depressed all week because I felt something was missing from my life. Was gonna see it again today, in 3d this time, was feeling great. Then I found out I had no money to see it and now I'm hoping against all hope that my friend will be kind enough to pay for my ticket tomorrow so I may see it again. This will be the second movie I have wanted to see this much. The first was Mulan and I saw that I belive 8 times in a 3 day weekend. I was only 8 so don't judge.

Try rounding up change and bottles, that's how I'm going to pay for my 5th viewing :P (I could afford it regardless but I'm trying to save up for a new computer and paintball gun)

Edit: Actually I suppose bottles only works if your state takes redemptions on bottles.

bagget00

Yeah, california does it but the problem is we already did that a few weeks ago so there are not enough bottles. We spent the recycle money on food.

Three times, four coming this next week--I can't wait.  I totally agree, I would go to Pandora in a heartbeat.

I have only seen it once, and that was in 2D.. :P
But I live in Denmark, and we don't have as many 3D cinemas as in the US..  :-\

Maybe I'll see it again someday!

seen it 2 times, once in 3d, another in 3d imax, when this money hits for this product i sold, im gonna see it again in 3d imax.

60 miles to the nearest 3d imax theater. Normally 3d is good but damn you dont get surround sound and 15,000 watts of goodness

Doolio

i have watched it in 3d with surround sound...so i want to know, given that information, what's the difference between the regular 3d and the imax? i heard that while watching it in imax, you shouldn't move your head left and right because it messes up the picture for you, is this true?
...taj rad...

kewong_uniltiranyu

4 times already. Only in 3D. Gonna go again for at least 2 times.

Hufwe Makto

nah if you move your head left and right it doesnt ruin anything. but the difference between 3d imax and normal 3d is the fact that 3d imax has like 15000 watts of power for surround sound  and the projection is way bigger 50 feet high 70 feet wide clearer picture, way more crisp and all.

Going to see Avatar this morning at 0845 (08:45am) for the sixth time. Once again in IMAX 3D. Here I am waking up at 0400 just so I can get ready and be first in line around 0600 at the theater. No joke, you have to be 3 hours early to every showing of the IMAX 3D.

Still?! Holy crap, this movie is totally going to be one of the best selling movies ever! I don't think it's going to break Titanic's $1.8 billion but it's gonna be close.

Lucky guy...
In Poland in Warsaw if you want to reserve tickets for weekend you have to reserve it almost month in advance to get good spots.
I have nice seats in the middle but for friday. For next weekend there are no free seats. All is reserver. For next two weekends half of the seats are reserved. You have to go to either edge or near screen.
Only in the middle of the week you have a chance to get good spots, but only in the morning, when every one is working/studying...

Thats it? At my movie theater you have to buy the tickets at least 24 hours in advance to get in any showing of the imax.
Avatar is a movie about a guy with blue balls running through the forest chasing tail.

My firend his girlfriend, my ex- and her boyfriend and a couple of school buds are gonna see it at AMC 14 in saratoga. Free movie, baby. :)))
