Yeah, so, with some revisions and modifications, this is what you might expect. From the 2007 script:

            NEYTIRI

You are Omaticaya now. You may make your
own bow from the wood of Hometree.
         (she looks away)
And you may choose a woman.

The Amazon warrior trying so hard to sound casual. Jake
suppresses a smile.

            NEYTIRI
We have many fine women. Ninat is the
      best singer --

            JAKE
      I don't want Ninat.

            NEYTIRI
There is Beyral -- she is a good hunter --

Jake puts his fingers on her lips to stop her.

            JAKE
I've already chosen. But this woman must
      also choose me.

She takes his hands and their fingers intertwine, moving
gently over each other.

            NEYTIRI
      She already has.

He puts his face close to hers. She rubs her cheek against
his. He kisses her on the mouth. They explore each other.
Then she pulls back, eyes sparkling.

            NEYTIRI
Kissing is very good. But we have
      something better.

She pulls him down until they are kneeling, facing each other
on the faintly glowing moss.

Neytiri takes the end of her queue and raises it. Jake does
the same, with trembling anticipation. The tendrils at the
ends move with a life of their own, straining to be joined.

MACRO SHOT -- The tendrils INTERTWINE with gentle
undulations.

JAKE rocks with the direct contact between his nervous system
and hers. The ultimate intimacy.

They come together into a kiss and sink down on the bed of
moss, and ripples of light spread out around them.

THE WILLOWS sway, without wind, and the night is alive with
pulsing energy as we DISSOLVE TO --

LATER. She is collapsed across his chest. Spent. He
strokes her face tenderly.

            JAKE
Neytiri, you know my real body is far
      away, sleeping.

She raises up, placing her fingertips to his chest --

            NEYTIRI
      This body is real.
         (she touches his forehead)
      This spirit is real.

Her eyes are luminous, honest, infinitely deep.

            NEYTIRI
When I was first your teacher, I hated
all Sky People. But you have also taught
      me.
         (whispering)
      Spirit is all that matters.

She lays her head down, against his chest, listening to his
heartbeat.

            NEYTIRI
I am with you now, Jake. We are mated for
      life.

            JAKE
      We are?

            NEYTIRI
      Yes. It is our way.
         (innocently)
      Oh. I forgot to tell?

He rouses up, making her look at him.

            JAKE
      Really, we are?

         NEYTIRI
      We are.

Jake considers this.

            JAKE
      It's cool. I'm there.

He lays his head down, and her arms enfold him, sheltering
him as he sleeps.

Aaand CUT.

Hm. Not as dirty as I thought. They could have put that in the movie and still had it PG-13.

Oh man I was going to post this! That was some funny stuff.

When I was watching the intimate scene in the move, I was thinking, "Wouldn't them making the bond together better signify that kind of intimacy?" But then I realized that if that is how they get intimate (so to speak) then that would mean that every time they bond with an animal, plant, etc. then that would mean they're boning. And that's just perverse.
It's quite a large universe, who could say what's out there?

I thing there was something that was mentioned along the lines of there is more too Na'vi intimacy then just the bond...

So they do the nasty with horses? And come to think of it, the ground? And if everyone else is linked to the--oh god, bad images :P

Actually, My theory is that they don't mate with the queue, they mate some other way (with their tails?) and the bond just signifies the connection and makes it stronger.

maybe you can only achieve the alleged orgasm by connecting with an organism with the same level of intelligence? Or the same species.

Txontaw

I still think that you don't actually have sex using Tsahaylu. It doesn't make sense. After all, all it is is just a bunch of bare nerve endings.

kìyevame for real this time.

Aww, I wish they hadn't cut this scene! It looks so adorable.  I hope to see it in the DVD

Also, na'vi intimacy works pretty much like human intimacy, anatomically speaking.  (I've read this in several sources, including the Survival Guide).  Queuing simply adds another level of intimacy.  Sort of like a mental link.  If you think about it, the tsaheylu with animals wouldn't be as strong because animal minds are less complex.  The bond itself is not erotic i think.  It's only in a sexual context that its erotic.

Rambly, i know, but you get what i mean, right?

Well it's made obvious in the movie that they have naughty bits similar to humans. (The fact that it's always covered, whether by a loincloth or a person standing in the way) So it's safe to assume that they mate in a similar way to us, but the bond brings a greater level. I highly doubt they're getting a sexual jolly when they connect to an Ikran, it's a connection of mind and spirit. They have to bring the body in for mating.

From the Activist Survival Guide:

QuoteThe Na'vi are monogamous creatures who mate for life. The mechanics of reproduction are similar to that of humans and other Terran mammals. But their unique physiology provides the Na'vi with a level of intimacy unknown on Earth. Cultural anthorpologists [sic] believe that when an appropriate mate has been selected (which can take many years), the male and female Na'vi will connect queues to create an emotional bond that lasts a lifetime. The intertwining of queues is both highly erotic and profoundly spiritual, but does not in itself lead to reproduction.

Hawnuyu atìtse'a

Ok good. So it's safe to connect to the ground when everyone else is.
