Just letting you all know, I am starting to do reviews on Movies/Fansites.  AVATAR had inspired me to do so, especially with my friends constantly telling me that Alice in Wonderland was better than AVATAR.

In my honest opinion, James Cameron's AVATAR has to be the best movie I have seen within the past 2 years.  In order it would be AVATAR, District 9, and the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still.  But I give the effects a 5/5 due to the stunning realism of the environment, the scar's on the Na'vi and Toruk.  Hard to believe most of what you see is a live performance rendered in real time.  Storyline I do admit is used very frequently from Pocahontas, but since when movies NOT taken away from that usually?  Pocahontas was the most popular storyline and people remake it to fit modern day times.  Although the storyline was generic, it never took away from the movie, so for the story I give a 2.5/5.  Acting was phenomenal in AVATAR!  Zoe and all the actors had trained to do the movie and I honestly believe that it paid off with the training.  The use of the Na'vi language was nice too.  Some acting was iffy, but it was mostly good.  Acting is a 4/5.  Graphics were excellent in RealD 3D and IMAX 3D.  Pandora (Na'vi: Eywa'eveng "Gaia Child") is spectacular in it's design.  Needless to say it took WETA a LONG time to make the environment for the movie.  Graphics are a 4.9/5.  DVD Release was pretty good.  I honestly have to say I would have preferred to get the bonus content on a 2nd disk rather then go online to see it, but there's always the Director's Cut coming out at a latter part of the year.  DVD Release is a 2/5.

Overall I give AVATAR a 7.3/10.  In my honest opinion, it is an excellent movie, and I would recommend to purchase it AT ALL COSTS.  If you have a local MovieStop, head there because they will match any competitor you have in the area that you can get a copy physically, and they are doing a sale for about 1-2 weeks.

My next review will be on a website for learning the language in AVATAR.  This website is LearnNavi.org

I don't know where to turn, as my future is clouded.  The future is a haze, as my path is unclear.  Will my loyalty stick with my Terran race, or will it stick with the Na'vi?

Agreed. This is probably the best movie I've seen yet, and probably will be for years. Not just in the great CGI, but in the way that Cameron told the story. I am a member of the AVATAR Program (when I got the DVD a signup code was in there), and there was a video showing Cameron and Weaver planting 'the first of a million trees'. Not only did Cameron make the movie, he took it one step farther.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I now find it to be the movie I compare all the others against...and nothing even comes close.

What's kind of funny is I almost didn't see Avatar at all. I was looking online to see if anything was playing one Saturday in January, and it was just one of many movies. As I read all the listings, I passed on Avatar thinking "CGI-fest version of Star-Trek...no thanks." When nothing else was of interest, I went back to it thinking "How bad could an over-CGI'd star trek really be?", and went to see the 2D that night since it was only $6.50 (for me anyway...) I wasn't expecting much, but when I left, the only thing on my mind was "I need to go see that again".

I later saw it 3 more times (1 in 2D, 2 in RealD) with friends, got a poster, and I'll be getting a DVD and an ASG on the 17th...
2010 was the year of the Na'vi.Vivar 'ivong Na'vi!

Is the Adobe Air virtual desktop actually Avatar-programme exclusive or not? I'm a little confused about that.

If not, I wonder when we're going to start getting this exclusive content - doesn't seem to be any yet. Someone correct me if I'm wrong - I'm a little confused by the whole thing. Especially since Adobe Air + multiple monitors of different vertical resolutions + Linux + NVIDIA proprietary drivers = not good, so I can't really use the virtual desktop much (I either cut off the whole of the right side, or the bottom-left side.

Your review contradicts it's self. On one hand you declare it a must buy but then you declare it a flat C?

you must question this, yes. but i think what hes saying is, from a professional view, that it was above the bar acting, and way above the bar effects. his child self is saying "screw phisics! avatar is way better then any movie ive seen! it just sucks you in and makes you forget all about normal reasoning."

Adobe Air + Anything = Not good.

It f*** up pretty bad on my HTPC. The screen was blinking in pink on every update and it was hard to actually click things due to it's unresponsiveness.

Good review, better than the stupid Seattle Times one.

Smarty-pants critics, don't know anything.

Except for Na'vi Kxania Taronyu, of course!  ;D
