Sam/Jake's Accent Slip?

I went to see Avatar for the 6th time today (

) and found a second time where Sam/Jake makes a slip with his American accent. I was wondering if anyone else had heard a slip some where in the movie?

Even on my first viewing I noticed this one:
When Jake first enters his avatar body in the lab and they ask him how he's doing, he says "Hey guys!" and it definitely has his original Australian accent. At first I thought that was how all the Na'vi people were going to speak, and was very disappointed, but I soon found I was wrong. But every time since I've noticed it, and I guess it's just become a pet peeve because today I noticed:

When Jake returns to where Hometree was after it is burned down (during the whole "alien, outcast" dialog) he finds his banshee and says something along the lines of, "We have something we have to do, and you're not going to like it." I forget the first part of that because I only really noticed the accent slip during the "and you're not going to like it" part.

Any other occasions where you found this?

p.s. this post is not supposed to be criticizing Sam, his ability to fake an accent through a whole movie is amazing

, it was just an observation.

Well the first one he just entered he Avatar body for the first time, "he was on drugs" basically at that point, you would assume that he won't speak coherently or just strangely at first.

Second time, didn't really pay attention to that. I guess it just bother my less then it did to you. But thanks for the notice.

Hmm. I'm very familiar with both of those lines and don't have an issue with his accent in either. Just my opinion though, I guess.

Sam does slip into Australian mode a few times in the movie. It's definitely noticeable.

It's only noticeable really if you knew about it before hand or are directly looking for it.

Not really, some instances are noticeable even when you're not looking for them.

I don't have any specific examples, but he slipped into it a lot, even if it was just slightly. For the next movie he's definitely going to be taking waaay more accent lessons.

I remember one particular part when Jake says "you're gonna die". (I think this was a line from the scene where he tries to warn the Na'vi of the impending Human attack on Hometree.) The accent was slight, but still noticeable.

Who knows, maybe Jake Sully's just slightly Australian on the inside.

I've seen the movie 14 times and haven't once had an issue with his accent. There might be a spot or 2 where he slips a little but it's certainly no big deal and FAR from enough to take away from his character or the movie.

Yes, that's what I said, don't think it took down anything from the character.
I think that saying it was noticeable "alot" is quite an exeggeration and really if you put very very hard attetion , so yes you might pick up a few espcially in a parts where higher vocal skills are needed an accent can kick in, but to say to take accent classes, that's kind of over the top, because I don't see to many fans bothered too much by this issue.
Of couse everyon intitled to see that in thier own view, that's just my 2 pennies.

I agree that these things didn't take away from his character at all, I think they even added to it! It helped to show that he was really in a foreign body, sometimes not completely in control, or sure of how to use it. So his voice slips

I don't think anyone was viewing it as a "bash" thread, but indeed a critic can help. You and some others saw something worth mentioning, me and other didn't see it, or wasn't bothered as much by that. Any option is a good option, there is no right or wrongon this I think.
Anyway Avatar 2, he'll probably do even better.

Indeed, we share the same opinion. I still think that the "first accent" was due to Jake entering his Avatar body for the first time.

Never bothered me when he did slip into Australian mode though. Slip-ups happen. And post production editing on sound isn't easym espoecially if you're trying to erase an accent.

Very true! I was thinking about how difficult it is to act a role, learn the lines and all, but I can't imagine trying to add an accent to everything. Not only did Sam have to do this, but all the actors who had to be Na'vi too! soooo amazing

I really don't mind the accent slips anyway.

A bit of Australian helps spice it up in my view.

The only one I noticed is he slips a bit when he says "...and I am not your enemy. The enemy is out there, and they are very powerful." (on powerful). Anyone else notice this?
