So...what IS that skull on top of the frame Jake and Grace are tied to anyway?

Kept meaning to post this and kept forgetting >.> yes I'm easily distracted but I ask the question in all seriousness.  It doesn't look like any of the animals we know, so I wonder...

But then again, I've always said there must be more animals in the forest than the ones we've seen.

Just from a very vague guess based on the skull alone, I'd say that it looks like some kind of herbavore with low-slung horns...

Anyone else have any guesses?

Could the smaller skull next to Jake's back be a yerik?

Hmmm...it could be...or it could be another of the same kind without its horns, it looks like it has attachment points for them...  At least, those look a bit large to be the attachment points for the neck muscles if it is a yerik skull...

You're right, on closer observation that skull does look similar to the other one, minus horns. 

I'll consult the ASG tonight, when I get home, and see what it has.

I kindof looked and didn't really see anything but feel free to check yourself.

As a (mostly) trained physical anthropologist, bones immidiately tweak my interest whenever I see them, so my being drawn to the "interesting shiny!" of that skull was inevitible.

Well, the survival guide clearly doesn't show every species on Pandora - there is at least one feathered species which is not listed as well.

I'd expect the animal to look a bit more intimidating since the skull is attached to a thing where they bind criminals (if they have those, I would suspect they do, but that's a different discussion), or at least, the place where they intend to leave Jake and Grace to die. But that is an awesome picture

That frame would normally be used for animal hides when making leather, crime among the Na'vi is extremely rare, almost unheard of.
