Yes. The arrows were able to penetrate the cockpit windows of the Samsons and Scorpions and kill the pilot. They had a bit higher momentum there but not too much. There is actually a Mythbusters episode where they did a test if fireing a bow from a galloping horse or driving vehicle gives a higher penetration force.

I'm sure at the right angle (slightly from above) the Na'vi archers should have been able to take out the AMP suits.

Okay, so the old podcast is here: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/radioavatar It was goofy fun that ended too soon, but we had creative people. I hope we can get a new gang together (interested? PM me, let's make some magic!)

They wanted to find out if an arrow fired from a horse in full charge could penetrate twice as deep as fired standing. I think the final result was that it only added about 10 - 20%.

Interesting.
Since the kinetic energy of a projectile is calculated with 0.5 mass x velocity² and they are nowhere fast enough to come in the funny area of traveling near light speed and sending light forward (which doesn't get faster than light) I would have thought that it actually did add more penetration...
But on the other hand: shooting off a driving vehicle or charging horse is a lot more tasking and you're more likely to be happy to hit the target at all. So perhaps the angle they hit with took some of the effect. I would certainly be happy to hit but I'm only a hobby archer. And no horseman at all...

That makes sense, as a charging horse is going 30? mph, and the force of a bow, while substantial, is still subject to wind resistance, so the two factors would seem to offset each other.

I remember it, around 20% more penetration, pretty natural then you think of it. The arrow fly in over 200km/h the horse add maximum 50km/h to the speed. Would work better with a Ikran as it's faster

I wonder if the Ikran Aymakto use different arrows. According the the field guide, they do use different bows but I didn't read into it much.

Keep in mind these arrows are likely going much faster than 200 km/h, considering the bows the Na'vi, who are substantially stronger than humans, use.  They also probably have well over 3x the mass.
