I called that it'll pass 3 billion with the DVD/Blu-ray's and the merc.

I think that they should credit the sales of the first 3D HDTVs to Avatar, since I bet will be the Avatar fans buying the first TVs and the 3D BluRays.  ;D

I'm all for sinking the boat, but this movie is a global phenomenon, far more than it is a domestic one. It has drawn a LOT of public hate from the nerd world early on, which is too bad. What I want to see is Avatar hit the coveted $600 million in domestic sales and once and for all kick Bruce Wayne's butt. Top all-time worldwide AND top all-time US film.

I am not surprised that the rest of the world "really gets" and love Avatar more than middle (redneck) America. But I expect more from this country. Just another 48 million (even if it takes a few weeks) and I will be happy. Very happy.

Okay, so the old podcast is here: https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/radioavatar It was goofy fun that ended too soon, but we had creative people. I hope we can get a new gang together (interested? PM me, let's make some magic!)

I will be much happier when it breaks the inflation adjusted domestic gross of titanic.

I just need to see it... 20 million or so more times (assuming 15$ tickets). herm... shizz... that will take me over 6000 years...

ok... better plan... we need  6.66% of the population of the the USA to go see avatar once... hey... thats.... rather pathetic...

100% of the population of the USA World needs to go see avatar.  >:(

edit: shizz man.. its at 530 million... domesticly... assuming... say 12$ a ticket... that means less than 45 million tickets have been sold (approximately)... that means... assuming people see it an average of 1.5 times... only 10% of the population of the USA has seen this movie.

wtf is with that?  *angry face*

edit edit: if every single person on this planet saw avatar only once... at an average of 10$ per ticket... that would be approximately 65 billion dollars. very few of us have been lucky enough to see this movie. I find this very sad.  :(

(you know... that means... if a larger % of the world sees this movie... we are going to need bigger servers...)

"You're gonna need a bigger boat."

Figured it was appropriate given the amount of movie THAT money made in its time. (7th biggest picture--ever)

Amazing... Can't wait till Avatar hits #1. If it hasn't already. ^.^
See that shadow? It's the last one you're gonna see.

I wonder how many tickets Titanic had sold?
Avatar is still young and has a lot to offer, but it would be nice to pass not only the revenue but also the total number of tickets.

"Titanic" just hit an iceberg named "Avatar."

I love that.

I wasn't actually that fond of Avatar before it came out...it wasn't until the night before it opens did I watch the trailer lol
Oh and the first time I watched it on the opening day...the cinema was half empty o.o but the next day I heard it was packed...

Yes. I must confess my sins as well. When I saw the trailer I thought "hmmm... another video game movie. Elves versus tanks? What is this--World of Warcraft?" But I went and saw it completely by "accident" and now I seem to spend all of my free time helping people learn Na'vi and I make fun activity books to make learning Na'vi easy.
:P

I have "seen the light"

Same here, I didn't go see it until 31 decembre when I had nothing to do in the afternoon. Thought it could be an interesting movie. It certainly was the best day of the year.
