Favorite character was Grace. Neytiri's cute and all, but anybody whose almost last words are "have to get some samples" is awesome in my book, but hey, I'm just a limp-dicked science major.

I also thought Selfridge was pretty well put together too. He literally oozed douchebag.

Phase III: Avatar Botany

I voted Tsu'Tey, and also wanted to vote Grace Augustine, but I can't. Many would say he's ugly, and they do say that but I like him : on the first hand it's a great warrior, he protects everything that surrounds him and on the other hand his gesture till the end of the movie when the clans needed to gather for war, he accepted to fly with Jake, the new Toruk Makto. Probably he died, probably not... he is and was courageous.

Is Tsu'Tey dead? As he falls you can clearly see 5 or 6 bullet entry wounds on his front, but no exit wounds, the script has him surviving the fall, but with smashed bones, if he'd remained conscious he'd be able to use the same fall breaking techniques that Jake hasn't mastered. If med' treatment was swift I see no reason why he has to have died.

Unfortunately simple explanation, time. Feel tired after watching 3d for almost 3hours? Quite a few people did. I hope that there will be and extended edition when dvd and blu-ray come out that is like somewhere between at least 5 and 24 hours ;D. Another script spoiler for those who haven't read it. Ever wondered about those photo's on the fridge of Grace and the Na'vi kids
plus
and finaly
now if that isn't a great backstory I don't know what is, read the origial script for more goodies ;D

Hmm, well that's the back story I was trying to figure out from the few hints that are in the movie.
But I'd never have guessed at the arson attack.
I'm kind of hoping for a grace burial scene, or maybe a shot of a wide tomb stone in front of the abandoned school.

I have had this epitaph stuck in my head, from shortly after I saw the movie the first time...

Here lies the human body and avatar of
Dr Grace Augustine
phd Med, Bot, Bio eng.
2099 - 2154
Her spirit is with Eywa.

In English on the right hand half and Na'vi on the left (with uniltìrantokx in italics to hint that that's the way they are laid out in the grave).
The year of her birth and doctorates just were guesses.

I also imagine a deliberately broken tomb stone, pieces found by the returning humans (hidden in the trash) which, when reassembled reads...

Here lies the body of
crpl Jake Sully
2123 - 2154
His spirit goes with the Omatikaya.

If I'd written the sequel this would have been the first clue for the tawtute that Jake's not a human anymore, but one that they missread as an attempt to fool them into thinking he's just plain dead.

Did you put the 'crpl' for corporal or cripple. XD

Corporal.

It's what he would have wanted.

If you don't believe me you can ask him yourself.

Nice idea. Very nice sentiment. Irayo txan for posting it. Therefore I apologize in advance for this:

1: No written language.
2: No markers. EVERYTHING is recycled. In a thousand years, the entire hometree will be regrown with new trees. It will be a "general area" of "old home tree" but no stone will mark the exact spot.
3: Jake is going native, and that means leaving behind everything human, lest he fall trap to this:

Jake is Na'vi (nah---veeee) now. The less human contact, the better. His grammar might even be passable by the sequel. ;)

Absolutely no need to apologize.

1 True, but these are made by humans for humans, and if the science types on pandora haven't started writing down phonetically the sounds made by the native humanoids, then I'd be very surprised.
If there's notation for the science types, and Grace is/was one herself, it just seems appropriate to have it on her heads stone.

2 Again true, but again these are made by humans mostly for humans.

3 You're spot on, Jake is going native, and that does mean leaving behind everything human, in a hole in the ground, with a marker full of symbolism to remind every one (including Jake) that Jake is not just the human with a remote control avatar anymore, he is now one of the people. Permanently.

I was misquoting Quaritch and he said it narvee.

And yes I did mean Cpl Jake Sully, not crpl Jake Sully. My bad.

Let's try not to be too harsh on typos.

I happen to like Jakes character because of his progression. The way his character developed was inspiring. He started off just another RDA operative and then before you know it he is in love with a beautiful alien woman and fighting to save an innocent alien race. So he deserves his props. My second choice would be Neytiri for obvious reasons

Niawve Mokri

Both Jake Sully and Neytiri are my favorite characters but my #1 fave character is Neytiri. I love characters that are strong women and that are so loyal to their people.
