This is how the Avatar logo might have looked, if the typographers, who already worked with JC on "The Abyss", "Titanic" and "Aliens" would have got the job for Avatar, too:

This is from a Blog Article which elaborately discusses the problems of using the font "Papyrus" in any kind of signature brand. It goes further, in on which cultural and historical grounds the writer of the article would have tackled the task of designing the "Avatar" signature, to further convey aspects of the Na'vi culture.

BTW: I would have omitted the box around the title. Boxes make things look like obituary notices.

I do remember hearing Fox having some issues with one of the typefaces for Avatar, because it looked so similar to Avatar the Last Airbender's typeface. The current typeface we see in the movie is very similar to the papyrus one shown. But yeah, an interesting read. ^.^
