Whenever I see that small shot of Norm running off into the forest with a mask and a  gun, I always have to smile and shake my head.  "Oh, Norm!  " But yeah, I always assumed the Na'vi had a fallback point to go to if retreat was called.  And since Jake said to fallback, I assumed Norm was going to fight his way back.
