Ok the seconed part of finding the location. The climate

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate

I know this is similar to the first one but its different and will help narrow down the options

In my opinion while tropical areas would be more comfortable to live in the diseases that could be contracted are significantly more dangerous.

Much better! I love this idea ^_^

Let's the location be -hidden-. Let's just see if the climate matches up with what people chose for actual continent.

Our front page seems to be getting cluttered with stickies again. This is what the directory is for! Lol

I'm surprised we haven't broken this board down into sub-forums yet.

We really should. We're officially the 2nd most active board. We're even on pace to surpass "spam" as the most active!!

Yay! This was my 900th post in this board!!

This is like my, 630th post in the board.

And why do we have a SPAM board? Why do we not have a Non-Avatar Roleplay board yet?

The southern U.S. has quite a good selection of useful edible plant/veggies that are fairly common. (Along with huge numbers of resources on the land and it's pretty cheap.) At least compared to other places.

Muscadine's for instance: (A wild grapevine.)

Actually not, we have 4 threads working on location.

But good find, that's really helpful.

I dont want to spoil anything or something but there have already been like 4-5 of these threads and from all of them we have no results yet, and we still dont know what to make our location :P

And to actually help a little;
I think the location of the tribe should be some jungle-ish area with a warm climate so we wont freeze while we walk in our shorts.
We indeed should be aware of the diseases that there may be, we have to do alot of research to be sure of our decision.
Also there must be something like a lake nearby where we can get ''safe water'' from to wash ourselves with, or to drink it shouldnt be a lake where dangerous bugs or alligators or snakes live in :P
Then we also have to do alot of research about the flora and fauna, will there be huntable animals, will there grow fruits and vegetables, and is the soil alright so we can grow our own vegetables just in case.
I agree we should find a place deep in the wildernis so people cant reach us, but we also shouldnt go too far, so we can actually reach the place ourselves or reach some city if we are in serious trouble, but we cant get in trouble if we have the right medication i hope.
This is all i can think about at the moment, i hope it will help this thread a little. ;D

QuoteI think the location of the tribe should be some jungle-ish area with a warm climate so we wont freeze while we walk in our shorts.
this is what most of us are trying to push for. al though on the clothes thing  i still think that lightweight trousers would be the best

QuoteAlso there must be something like a lake nearby where we can get ''safe water'' from to wash ourselves with, or to drink it shouldnt be a lake where dangerous bugs or alligators or snakes live in
stagnant water is probably the worst place to get water. we need something like a spring or flowing stream near to the tribe. if were near water then we are going to have mosquitoes so ull have to live with it.  But the thign about snakes is well placed

QuoteThen we also have to do alot of research about the flora and fauna, will there be huntable animals, will there grow fruits and vegetables, and is the soil alright so we can grow our own vegetables just in case.
we shouldnt really rely on farming as a source of food, knowing what plants are eatable in the location we choose should be good cause then we dont have to rely on teh farming

QuoteI agree we should find a place deep in the wildernis so people cant reach us, but we also shouldnt go too far, so we can actually reach the place ourselves or reach some city if we are in serious trouble, but we cant get in trouble if we have the right medication i hope.
this is why having the eco village would be a good idea because medication could be kept there in much better conditions than the tribe. and it would also mean we could leave socitey a little farther behind.

not trying to put you down, trying to make you think, and that way we will get the best replies

Gah, I can't decide. My heart says sub-arctic, my common sense says no. Not a humid area and not tropical, too many diseases, food gets rotten fast, everything gets rotten fast. Not arid, too hard to find water and not enough food or materials for shelter or firewood. Highlands - hard to find shelter. So good areas in my opinion is central or mediterranean Europe, pacific northwest of USA, or east Asia (see Bhutan or similar areas, the problem there is civil unrest). Preferably not a place with earthquakes or volcanoes either, I'd like to avoid them :P

bloody hell !!!! i never thought of med europe! thats got a decent climate, there will be rain and stuff but everywhere we go will, there might be winter, but itll be milder thasn other places, I shall do research!!!

i dont think USA getting green cards is a problem, and this new health law is just not good, and the ban on fishing( read it somewhere)

east asia could be good, not japan thought hurricanes and stuff but those are damn good ideas

please research places in asia XD

We oughta start narrowing down by now. You know, start eliminating places we would definitely not settle in. This way at least we could all start doing more detailed research.

I have to say the U.S. really looks impractical. Many of us aren't citizens and it's not the easiest place to get into, particularly as we wouldn't be working/paying taxes, it looks like it would add an unnecessary administrative element.

We should conduct a thorough study of the most popular 2 or 3 climates (there is clearly a trend towards tropical), with that set we would cut out many regions without having to go into the politics &c. of the individual areas. I think climate should be decided first as it would have such wide reaching implications not just on location but lifestyle.

Esmond

We should come up with a list of filters then follow it in sequence. For example like 'Eylan Ayikranä said we should start by eliminating regions with unwanted climates.

Help preserve Nature.

Well, I suppose some area in the Alps could work (austria/northern Italy/southern germany). Not sure about the settlement density there though... My no. 1 dream choice is still Bhutan :P

Areas to NOT settle in would (for me) be Middle East, most of Africa, or any place with volcanic activity. Or densely populated areas like India (I love India though, crazy country in a good way).

well yeynari why dont you do some research on bhutan ( although u probs already have) and post it here so that everyone can see

i think the ideas uv put down (other than the US) were all good and places that we had never even thought of
