Yes - I think the right way to go is to first collect ideas, maybe make a pre-selection, then information, then make a decision.

BTW - have any of you considered Costa Rica yet? It is my favourite location in our discussion, but we are not quite as far as you when it comes to the decision, still argueing over how we decide.
I will just give some advice here and not participate in polls as I am involved with development of a sister clan of this one here which was founded independently. I believe however, we are one clan and we should stick together!

Txon Taronyu

BC is not cold in all the parts the costal mountains can get quite warm there is a rainforest and a desert in BC

Hmm we could take a look at Costa Rica i guess!

And Esmond i think its a pretty good idea so we can show the Americans North-America is the worst place for something like this :P

Ok, I live in Canada, can you please tell me why you wrote OUR PROVINCE in a poll with everything else as a continent?

Just in case you were wondering....

Hatchet, three against the wilderness, lost in the barrens are all in Canada and they all do thing similar to what we want to do

And to Sezawte I have to say New zealand is no good because (well we can still consider it but...)

-to small
-most of the forest and good wilderness is in Natinal parks
-very few mammals
-most land is expensive there

edit: I think that because its a good option

this is off topic but why does every one think canada is really cold all the time. i live in canada and it is above 15celsius 59 fahrenheit for most of the year (like 3-4months of the year). also there isn't snow on the ground all year round

Unilfwewyu

@ redes1

I also live in Canada :). You must realise though that 1/8 of the world still think we live in igloos, wooden sheds and are still lumberjacks :P

We are not saying Canada is cold but it is cold to people that are used to higher temperatures :P
I live in Holland and i think it might be the same or maybe a little higher than the temperature of Canada.

im also guessing that everyone is looking for a Pandora like climate

Swokéyan

Yeah whats the climate of Pandora btw? :P Something like in Africa or something? Or just some random rainforest.

haha u got me im just referring to as it was show in the movie

Txon Taronyu

Its just some random rainforest but ya people I think we should stop seeing our selfs so much as a Na'vi tribe rather then just our own hunter-gatherer society (not saying I do not love the Na'vi) because it is making people vote for pandora which is unrealistic

The reason colder places aren't such a good idea is more to do with local fauna and flora that can survive the climate than the temperature tolerance of individuals.

I'm gonna have to go with SOuth America on the basis of useful flora/fauna (but take note, very few large animals in rainforests).
But you guys are right, we cannot have a location choice based entirely on what it looks like and how similar to Pandora it appears to be.

Ideally, if we chose a forest, we would be after an area of what is known as "primary" forest, which is populated by old, tall trees that have thinned out most ground-level vegetation.
This space is what many tribes in the Amazon keep searching out - in this space, hunting is much easier as is moving about!

British columbia I am interested in considering. Despite a slightly lower temperature, as long as it doesn't get to something like -5 degrees very regularly, then we should be okay. Would a south-eastern area close to the sea work for this? (the sea would help regulate year-round temperatures)

Will be sorry to see Oceania taken out of consideration. Always wanted to go there!

I never said we should go to some where cold I was just saying I think people are trying to get to pandora (and are not being practical)

The problem with jungle tribes is that if you look at them they often are mest up (no offence) they often resort to caniblizom or war because of the harsh condisions

I have been looking at plains tribes or desert tribes and they often end up very well eg. the hadza

Tonbogiri

That is a fair point. When looking at primitive tribes, we need to consider all the problems they face normally, not just those created by THE MARCH OF COMMERCIALISM!!!!

Plains tribes do often much better. I believe this is largely due to a different outlook - in most African tribes, everyone smiles ;D - in most rainforest tribes, people rarely smile at all. :(

Ya its true also if you look at there religions you can see jungles are very dangerous in the jungle people religions they fear the spirts of the forest but in the plain they do not fear the spirts and see them as evil
