Could we sell excess? Also, we're off topic.

As 'Itan said, we are off topic. Sorry!

I only mention because applying even some permaculture would reduce how much land we need to buy. Naruga Kuruga, you raise a good point, and one that needs discussion. We do not want to place any additional pressure on our environment, and to produce excess would seem to be doing so. However, there will be times in the tribe when food is scarce, and in that situation I would rather have some form of backup food source than resort to buying from external companies.

But besides that - any more progress on land research? Seems like the Argenitian land agent I contacted last month is either dead or permanently on holiday. How is everybody else doing? :D

Well, as far as I can see, we've hit every country that's around the equator and not run by dictators. But I think where we need to get at is where that past land agent said we would have the best results.

I know it's not technically within the area you lot are talking about, but I came across this while researching property myself for other, family-related reasons, and immediately thought of you.

If I were doing a "tribe" thing this is where I would want to live, but then, this is my local area (well, reasonably close) and so I understand how to live within the environment.

Anyway, just posting this to remind you that there are always other thoughts. ;)

It is in Canada, it seems - I shall have to check up on immigration and hunting laws in canada! The only problem is, it seems a little small. A shame, as it says ideal for an eco-village!!

Tonbogiri, one more problem, you know it is very cold on the winter in Canada, I don't wanna live in a such cold place like Canada, I don't wanna either live in the country I live too, because of cold winter and snow!

I'm with you there - hate the swedish winters, and I guess Norway (and Canada) is the same. Ugh. :P

Heh, don't worry, I remember! I too have little desire to endure the freezing winters. I'm sure that we will find a warmer place soon.

Ugh, not the "cold" thing again! PLEASE look the place up and do some research before you assume. Canada is a massive country, and the area in the link I posted may not be tropical, but it CERTAINLY isn't in the deep freeze either. *sigh*

On a personal and by experience level....I would not live in Canada. Or any other place that is very far from the equator.
If it gets below 65 degrees, I will not stay there. Me and Cold weather....not so good.

I found out I can survive the snow in just shorts and a t-shirt. For about 30 minutes. But I think I could handle 40 degrees and above.

If your body temperature drops below 95 degrees, you slip in to hypothermia.
If exposed to cold and the internal mechanisms are unable to replenish the heat that is being lost, a drop in core temperature occurs. As body temperature decreases, characteristic symptoms occur such as shivering and mental confusion.

See, that's one of the reasons I could never join you lot even though I truly want to live off the land...the heat thing.  Ma Narunga, you can handle 40 and above, but you can't handle "cold"?  Well, technically nobody can stand around in the nude in sub-freezing, and I, too, have issues with warming my body up, but if I were out in the high heat (anything consistantly above 28C) I would get sick.  And I don't just mean I might get a little dehydrated, I mean I would (unless I could spend the whole time swimming in the ocean) just wilt, have constant headaches, and start throwing up.  I'm EXTREMELY sensitive to heat; basically my body just doesn't tolerate it for extended periods.
